I cought 1 swarm this year but with all my friends are scared of bees and cannot help me for this reason. After getting one I am thinking I will count on splits and leave the swarms to the younger ppl. I got my bees late this spring and split it 2 times this year. I run 10 frame deep boxes and found I can split in early 2 frames with 1 honey frame, now feed them both pollon patties and sugar water, and they will grow from that. So splits are my thing its easier then swarms my 2 cents after trying it cheers. I now sit at 3 hives for winter but look out next year end of Aplil I plan 4 more 5 frame nukes then split them in July again cheers and thanks for all your help

@@joerowland607 Im right smack in the middle fruit orchards so I figure they might be from the bees they get to pollinate the fruit trees
@stanpatterson50335 жыл бұрын
It's the light. The bees "invading" your house are likely bees that have already made it home (if they were out foraging). Often bees will hang out on the side or top of their home, much like people will go sit on a porch or patio. They see light and momentarily become confused and leave their perch and fly towards the light the way a lot of insects do. One thing you could try would be keeping that light off as much as possible, also closing curtains or blinds in the evenings. Obviously, the ultimate solution would be to move the hive away from your place and the lights. If there are no human-built and placed hives nearby, then I would suggest that you have a colony of honeybees nearby that have made either a natural shelter in a tree or some structure, or have found their way into a man-made structure nearby your lights and home. If it's the case that a colony has taken up residence nearby, then you might want to consider finding them and either removing them yourself, or perhaps asking a professional to size up the situation, possibly give an estimate if there is work to be done.
@joerowland6075 жыл бұрын
@@Liadara it is possible that those bees threw a swarm off and now there is an active hive. That or they are setting the pollination hive real close to your house. Go get some equipment and set out and catch those swarms. Thats payback for those ole girls invading your space!!!!!!!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 get some low voltage lighting and place a distance from your house. That will maybe keep them from your house. At night around a light all bees are mad.

A swarm is looking for a place to build a colony, and modern beehives are designed to be as close as possible to an ideal bee habitat -- better than generally found in nature. So the swarm gets dropped on the box, goes in, is pleased with the amenities ... and once the queen is in, they're home. You keep them closed in 48 hours to start them committing to the hive by laying comb (also to get used to their new queen if you gave them one).

Better not to have any honey in it, but they do like the smell of old brood comb, if you have an empty frame spare.
He's not wrong, or contradicting himself. Swarms won't go after anybody in any kind of mass colony defence, because they don't have a hive or brood to protect. The stings DR is getting probably come from accidentally squeezing individual bees as he's handling the swarm -- this is not a hazard to onlookers, only to people who stick their hands in.

As far as a sherpa goes, they haul all that gear up on Mt. Everest., and the dead bodies and trash down. But the word "Sherpa" originally meant "people from the East" and is pronounced "shar-wa" by the Sherpa themselves. Before mountain climbing became a popular pastime in the Himalayas, the word Sherpa simply denoted a group of people who migrated to Nepal from Eastern Tibet.
