Stopping one minute or so in to say kudos to those two men unloading the hay bales. That is some HARD work. I'm surprised they don't use a trolley of some sort. Now, back to video. I do savor these.

Love to see everyday activities: supplies, cleaning, time in the paddock, visit to the field. The rhythm of caring for animals is timeless, reassuring. The field looks very large. I tried to guess how many acres and gave up. As for equipment, I remember the video with the hedge trimmer. That was amazing. Thanks, Tara. Time with you, your family and animals is like visiting with old friends.

I sure enjoyed that video. Beautiful hay - and they stacked it for you! God bless them. I don't have horses … and my farm days are distant but it is a good reminder of how much work goes into keeping horses. They are a great joy but they also demand a lot of work. It is sort of a relaxing routine to muck out the stalls every day etc. But your day is never really done - always something to do. The big boys are always happy to see you guys, and of course, have a few carrots. Apollo is definitely the boss - he makes sure Farouk doesn't forget that! I think it was as much about attention from you and Rens as about the grass near the fence. How good to see Bella say "Hi" when you came near her stable. She was happy to see you. She is much more settled - no worried look on her face … she has beautiful kind eyes and such a pretty head. Bella has really started to fill out also, which is wonderful to see. Diablo is looking well though he was not very patient in the paddock when Rens was removing his halter - but Rens corrected him. It will not be easy to undo the bad habits especially at his age. It is good to see Bella remains the boss! Loved the video - it was really good to see all the horses! Looking forward to the next video!

Aaahhhh hay day!! It’s a great feeling!! I put up thousands of bales...up until my thirties! Way up to the top of the hay mow as we call a huge barn loft. Labor intensive in the heat of the summer of course but very satisfying when the team of us worked together. Had to turn the bales on end and stack them so they would tie themselves together, and not collapse as we pulled bales down to feed and also so that the moisture could run straight up the bale to the roof and not rot or cause a fire. Amazing how much heat is produced in aging hay, shows how much energy is in the feed for our animals. Timothy mixed with alfalfa hay and for our cattle, we even grew a bit of oats into the hay field. What a wonderful smell of fresh cut hay. I remember smelling it for miles and miles as all the farms would be cutting and raking and bailing the hay during the same time. Now, my allergies would be going crazy if I lived out in the country. :-/. Looks like you’ve got plenty enough for the year. You should be proud if your little horse farm. You’ve planned it out well to make efficient use of space and you’ve got a system that works well for you. Good luck with Bella’s stable habits. My mare eventually became neater as she grew from being a filly. I’ve worked with dozens of broodmares and some were messy, most not so much. The big boys are enjoying their summer days. Does it look like they are using their run-in shed? I bet they are loving their shady stable with no doors. Farouk seemed to think that was great when he first checked it out. Oooh look at me! I can go in and out as I want!!! Check it out Apollo! I’m in. Now I’m out!! TTFN 👋

How well I remember slinging that type of bale in the hot sun every summer - at least back then there was only 1 haying each summer [the grass has been bred over the years to grow faster]. And I never found that mares were messier or less messy than geldings as a sex-linked standard. It all depended on the mindset of the individual horse. I do remember that mares with foals were exceptionally neat after dropping their first foal, regardless of their toiletries prior. It's unusual that Bella is not more fastidious in the paddock. Normally, they choose one location so as not to foul the grazing. I would assume it's another thing that Bella was not taught by her dam - as if they were not put out to graze. P.S.: I see that Diablo is still being submissive to Bella. But, at least they have formed a herd pairing.

How well I remember doing that in my younger days, although we did not have such the ingenious contraption these gentlemen have; what a neat rig! Just love the sweet smell of a store of hay!! Ah! (or sniff, sniff, cough, cough, sneeze, as my son would say! He is allergic to cut hay, grain and corn.) Bella looks so much calmer and relaxed, looking out over her stall door. How sweet that she had a greeting for you! I am glad the leading is going better as well. I wonder if Diablo will learn something when he eventually gets time with the big boys and if Apollo will put him in his place. Love and carrots to all! ❤️🥕🥕🥕🥕

Hi Tara I'm watching this before I get off, thank you so much you've just really made my day, I absolutely love listening to horses eat, "I know weird" it's one of the nicest sounds for me and I always watch their faces you can see how they love what you give them, also body language, Apollo telling Farouk move away you're too close, I'm getting the fuss, then he moves him from that area of grass saying no you can't eat there that's mine, lol he's funny, Bella is the same toward Diablo, she's quite bossy, move we'll go this way, no I want to graze there, it'll be good to see the horses all together as an herd just to see how the dynamics change, will Apollo keep his status or will he really take the little ones in hand, for one thing Diablo will be properly horse socialised, he will learn his manners towards you by watching how the big boys behave, horses are very good watchers they don't miss a trick, they can't afford to if they want to live, even in the field when you went over the boys were already shouting at one another with their ears, Apollo's very precise too he makes sure he's understood, he's strong and that's why he is higher, horses like a strong leader, oh my goodness I'm buzzing and ready for my walk, off to see the horses in their fields but going a different way to avoid the bulls/cows admittedly they scare me a little, anyhow thank you so much Tara for sharing, have a lovely day with your horses and I'll see you in the next video, my it's a bit grey here today maybe take my brolly lol, hugs to you all xxxxxxxx

Those young Andalusians are sure nice and the filly is settling down nicely. Diablo has just been gelded so he will still have enough testosterone to be a bit challenging. That should change with time. Geldings will often poop in one spot because they still have remnants of the instinct to mark stud piles. Female horses do not have that instinct but a lot will chose an area of their field or paddock as their main toilet. My mare did.

Bella’s whinny is so sweet to hear! My mares *learned* to be good in the stalls...but oh dear! The pastures they go everywhere, Tesla our gelding goes in one spot only. In his stall he goes to the back, but he’s so big his wee’s are in the middle. Look how good the youngsters are doing!!! Your road is quite busy. Bella does show concern for that doesn’t she? She will be right as rain before long. We just found a local farmer that does the small bales so we are doing those this winter 300... but our herd is bigger then your’s. Lol. But you are so right... at our ages it’s so difficult.. that paying someone to bring and stack is worth it’s weight in gold. Well, I’m going against the grain here and saying that we have 2 very clean mares....they poo on the edge of the track/ when we are out riding, and similarly in the field, always around the edge of the field, and even on the actual poo pile... infact, sometimes when we come back from a ride and untack, they will go over and poo on the poo pile. As for the stable... they hardly go in it, but it is furnished with thick foam matting and I put “Flax” in there... not sure if you have tried it Tara, but it very good and also decomposes quickly... the wee soaks to the bottom, and the top stays dry and you remove droppings the same as you just did. It’s about £7 a bale. We started stocking up on hay for winter last week, we took horse trailer and got 54 at £3 each, we will get more tmrw, and maybe one more load. Massive change in beautiful Bella, huge improvement... and to me, she seems much more relaxed, and pleased to see you, and lovely to see her have banter with Diablo. Sorry to hear that Diablo is going to take a bit more work😬That’s a shame with the fly rugs, but they’re still useable. Out of sight, but not out of mind, but hope that Steve and Ikey good too. Fantastic video again... one complaint.... they always end too quickly 😂Stay safe and Take care, love to Tara, Rens,Steve,Ike, Apollo, Farouk, Diablo and Bella.xx💙💜❤️💚

Yes it's a mare thing Tara as until now she wasn't stabled and lived in the paddock with her dam some mares tend to have one spot but some never do I have both types they learn from their mothers so if mum is going everywhere bub will too the geldings like stallions do it in one or two spots wild stallions use this to mark their territory

Hay is definitely too heavy for me to lift now at 59 luckily I’ve much younger stronger colleagues to help 💪🏻🥕🐴 Great to watch daily life as well as rides. Lovely video as ever 👍🏻

Bella has the sweetest winnie! And she is putting on weight nicely. Pointy body bits are rounding off now.

Both of my mares poop all over their stalls; in front of the door, under the edge of their feeder (HOW???), next to or into their water bucket or hay tub...🙄 One of my mares moves around a lot in her stall, so her poop is thoroughly mixed in and you have to sort through all of her bedding with a manure fork to pick out the “apples”, instead of just scooping up intact piles..

Very nice clip Tara, I’m so pleased that my advice came to fruition re Rens leading Diablo out so Bella would lead out more easily thank you for sharing that part. May I also applaud Rens for correcting Diablo when he struck out he’s needs to be addressed with that immediately as he still has the coltiness in him. Please don’t have doubts with him he will definitely be a great well mannered horse you need to sow the seeds as we do with any youngster weather it be animals or humans. I wish you all a very pleasant weekend tfs.😎

Bella is filling out! Looks great! Once, I looked out in our pasture and saw a dun-colored horse in our field, and wondered how it got in there. On closer inspection, I noticed it was NOT a stray horse, but my own palomino filly, Dixie. She had rolled in a mud hole and every INCH of her was covered in tan mud! I was brushing dust out of her coat for a month! Lol!

Twice as many horses eat twice as much food. Diablo seems to like to fling his front foot out in protest. Bella looks like she is starting to fill in finally. The big boys looked so happy to see you.

Bella is coming along so quickly and nicely, looks like Diablo will need some extra work to untrain the bad habits they taught him but he will get there 💕 isn't it a great feeling looking at a full hay barn 💕💕💕💕💕

That trailing backing was very good. It is more difficult to back a single axle trailer like that one thsn a double axle because the single axle trailers jackknife easily. But they did an amazing job!

What a great gadget for carrying bales don't ever remember seeing those as a child could be fairly modern concept saves loads of time for them on the job. Funny that boys are specific where they toilet but girls not you would think it would be the other way round? Diablo gets excitable once in the paddock hoofing the ground I couldn't tell if he was being impatient or going to roll on the ground taking Rens down with him for a few seconds at least he listened to Rens tone of voice and stopped it. I wish I had have found miscanthus when I had my rabbits then years later Guineas instead of wood shaving and wood pellets it would have made cleaning them a lot less messy and smelly and not to mention nicer for them. Well what a week at my house last Friday I opened the back kitchen door to the conservatory and garage to find a slight surprise to find medium sized hedge hog the other side on the mat , it tried to scuttle under some plastic shelf unit , I went that second to get dad to go have a look but it left out the conservatory doors and then the next day their was a youngster in the porch and should stood still for five minutes then scuttled into the steam tube to the tumble dryer, by Tuesday dad noticed paint on the floor from the garage door because he shut it once he realised that they could smell minnies food I put in there on the work surface it's her favourite spot so she can in and out as she pleases, so we think the parents has made a nest for their hoglets in the garage , haven't caught them in the porch since mind, then I have been hearing bee noises between my bedroom and the next bedroom I put it down to masonry bees which aren't overly aggressive ,only to find when the people came to put on new guttering boards on that we have a wasps nest so they called a man they knew to come and remove it today good job they noticed it today when it's cool and wet they aren't so active so luckily no ouch that's hurts incidents lol. The grass in flower looks beautiful in the field in the soft light. Oh dear there coats at least they got two years use , I don't suppose it's a sewable fabric either maybe use some fabric safety pins until new fly coats arrive for them.🐎🐴💛❤💟💗
