If the big guy is a bjj guy, then they are both bjj guys. There was nothing catch about what the smaller guy was doing. That was all bjj. Guard pulling, butt scooting, half guard sweeps, setting up his sub attempts, etc. These things are completely counter to what Catch is about and are distinctly bjj.

I don't think Anthony is only a catch wrestler, but he is recognized as someone who is learning the real thing by other people in the CACC community, people to frequently reference old techniques written in the catch wrestling manuals. Of course he knows how to roll in other ways, but even catch wrestlers of ye olden times had their own version of pulling guard: lazy takedowns that just brought the fight to the ground without working the stand-up wrestling.

Don't call someone a "catch wrestler" who pulls guard and goes to his back just because he might have learned some catch techniques. If you want to cross train go ahead, but going to your back is taught *against* in catch.

Some smaller catch organizations only consider it a pin if you're whole body is north of the hips. So side control, mount, north south. But not guard and half guard.
