Regarding ordering take out: Me and my fiance are trying to save money and live healthier. We (nearly) always plan on cooking at home but used to fall back on ordering take out as soon as the recipe wasn't a success, we were missing an ingredient or something like that. My fiance came up with the best idea ever: Open our own "fast food restaurant" in our kitchen! We have agreed on and printed a little menu and make sure to always have the ingredients for the items on the menu at home (french fries, buffalo wings, burgers etc.). This works really well for us and so far we're not "abusing" the system, we only "go there" once or twice a month and when we do we make a deal out of having one of us taking and making the order, and we also play some happy restaurant music while the order is being made. Silly? Yes, but it works. Healthy? No, but it's healthier than ordering take out (air fried french fries etc.) Money-saving? For sure, the same meal "costs" about 75% less than at the restaurants It also feels a lot less restrictive than cutting junk food out completely. Maybe this is obvious for other people but for us it really was a game changer :D

Penicillin is not only not outdated, but actually one of the most powerful antibiotics humans have access to! Also, for antibiotics to work you have to *always* finish the prescribed course, otherwise the bacteria causing the infection might become resistant to that antibiotic 😶

That's outdated advice. The latest medical thinking is to NOT finish the course if you do not need it. Not finishing the course is actually better for antibiotic stewardship (preventing resistance). One of many articles: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5661683/

I hear you on the avalanche! A thing that helps me is to remind myself there's a lot in between "cooking from scratch" and "ordering food." I chuck some rice in the instant pot, open a can of beans, jar of salsa, tub of spring mix. Boom, burrito bowl I could happily eat every day, and almost no effort, thank goodness. And if you really, really are exhausted, buy the packets of pre-cooked rice, or any number of ready meals, frozen or heat up pouches, and eat some spring mix on the side. That's a really impressive amount of prep! Well done!

Great tips! I will open a can of black beans and put them over some blue corn chips, add some prepped chicken breast, cheese and one of those little serving size containers of guacamole, jalapenos, salsa, cilantro if I have it, bam dinner! I honestly think all or nothing is just not sustainable. I have been following an 80/20 philosophy in my latest fat loss drive and it was been working out for me so far! I don't obsess, I can pivot if meal prepping doesn't work out or I get really busy and not freak out because I don't have any strict RULES

You put too much pressure on yourself Bea. Just go out for a walk and enjoy your time instead of trying to figure out what's next, what you need to do now, tasks ... plans. They are all good but you do not need to depend on their success or even their existence to feel okay. Happiness is not a goal, it's just something that comes and goes like any other emotion. We just need to strive for some kind of peace or stability that helps us keep moving on when the other emotions come in to play.

Hey, even with the guy next door and the guy across the street doing most of my sidewalk, I still spent an hour to one and a 1/2 hours shoveling around my car, clearing my car , and my top step plus the patch that the snow plow leaves at the bottom of my driveway. That's enough --an hour or an hour and a 1/2 of slushy snow is enough of a workout.

Something to remember when you're recovering from a respiratory infection is that it FEELS like you've lost more progress than you have. The muscle you've been building hasn't vanished, but everything's going to feel harder and make you more tired because your oxygen exchange is less efficient while your lungs are healing. Keep at it! Focus on breathing through your workouts, take it slow and steady, lots of little tiny breaks to breathe. Maybe get some controlled breathing exercises from your coach. It'll get easier as the inflammation in your lungs recedes, though that can take a few weeks post infection. But, take heart! You're not actually back at square one! Your lungs just aren't at full speed yet.

Mine is The Land Before Time and a Swedish children's show called Rädda Joppe, död eller levande! (Save Joppe, dead or alive!) - about a kid constantly loosing his toy stuffed animal, Joppe, and the anguish that naturally follows forcing the adults to bend over backwards to get the toy back. It was a sort of horror series for kids and gave me nightmares for days, despite it being normal for kid's shows in Scandinavia to have an undercurrent (or just plain upfront) way of always portraying the harsh realities of life. Luckily today I can relive the horror here on YT (the one with the combine harvester is the worst!) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4W4mIKgbpaLicU

Penicillin is an extremely responsible choice for your provider to start with. There are certain bacteria that *by definition* can’t develop resistance to it. It may feel frustrating as if you aren’t trained in their field, but it’s actually a sign your provider is practicing responsible, evidence-based medicine. And those providers are good for all of our health in the long term ☺️

I can so totally relate to the temptation to slide into all or nothing thinking when recovering from an illness or injury. It's so frustrating. I've been very ill for 2 years and just when I was thinking I was no longer sick, I was hit by a drunk driver. Now I'm having surgery on Monday to repair my shoulder and I won't be able to exercise hardly at all for 2-3 more months. I'm glad you are trying to keep that snowball from becoming an avalanche, because it can happen so quickly.

Bea, IDK if this will be helpful to you, but it was incredibly helpful to me. I used to see "being healthy and fit" as this state of being that was kind of elevated, like reaching the top of a mountain. And every time I fell off the bandwagon, I had to start back at the beginning of the mountain, like Sisyphus and it was so discouraging. I feel like this may be kind of how you (and society) see it too. But I've realized recently that that way of envisioning my fitness/health is not really helpful to me (nor is it really accurate to how anyone - even the "fit" people - are living their lives). I've started thinking of my health as a hike - not up a mountain, but through mixed terrain: flat expanses, hilly rises and falls, and sometimes even mountains. Sometimes things will feel easy (flat expanses), sometimes it will feel hard (rocky terrain) and sometimes it's going to be super unpredictable (chased by a mountain lion or something lol). But the only way to tackle ALL things the trail of health will throw at me is to just keep walking. At minimum, that's all I really have to do, and I'm succeeding. Sometimes I'll be resting and sometimes I'll be running. But it all counts. And I don't have to psych myself up every time I want to "get started" on my fitness journey again, because I'm always following the trail, even if I have stopped to take a rest. That's just as much a part of hiking as reaching the top of the mountain. (I mean, come on, I'm hiking this trail for the rest of my life, I'm allowed to rest!) Anyway, that probably made no sense, but it's a helpful way of looking at it for me.

Also - I actually got to the end of the video now lmao but my husband is a lawyer and I love to refer to him as "my lawyer," in casual conversation. It throws people off. You want to hang out with me this weekend? Let me speak to my lawyer first.

Pretty healthy way to think about it. Unfortunately for Bea because she is doing this on a public platform she has to deal with the perfectionist who drag her for falling off track for being sick. I mean what the hell? Instead of encouraging her to dust herself off, they write nasty, judgemental comments which, quite honestly, are so discouraging. They just use it as an excuse to bully, and actually contribute more to someone's low mood and lack of motivation than if they said nothing at all

Family Tip, we take our leftovers from our home cooked meal that we didn’t eat and put into a vacuum sealed bag then freeze. When we want to eat we simply boil the entire bag in water and enjoy. Get a food saver vacuum sealing thing 😂 saves us a ton of money! We even take those frozen bag meals camping or hiking it’s just so easy. Hope you read this and hope it helps!

She's too extreme in her actions, when she fails she hits a shame spiral. A half decent therapist would be able to help her with that but she's using "BetterHelp" and I have heard too many nightmare stories about that service

@@bloodorangemoon I bet she knows that too but mental health is a tough thing ...and dark . Yes the service isn't the best thing ...but maybe that's all she can handle at this time . We don't see everything going on with her so it isn't fair to judge ..I just hope she's doing well .

Hey Guuurrrl!!! sounds like you need a little 'get up come on get down with the sickness"! :) That's the only bit I know so now I have to listen so that I know what I'm referencing lol. Ya bouncing back from being sick is rough. I've got light asthma but everytime I'm sick it feels like I've had a major attack and my lungs don't work for forever. Honestly what helps most is, when I can, walking more. Around the block or just around the house more or going up and down the stairs one more time than I really needed to. It helps my lungs work without burning :)

If you're feeling bad about how long it took you to hang the tapestry, please know I once procrastinated for a literal DECADE (probably longer, but I'm not willing to admit it to myself) to hang a not very big mirror that I spent a lot of $$ on, it took less than 10 mins from unboxing to hanging, and is currently hanging from 2 📌 😂

Hi Bea. I'm about halfway done with my Invisalign. It's honestly one of the best decisions I ever made for myself. As well as straightening my teeth, it's helping correct my overbite too. My only advice would be, that if you go ahead with braces, do it with an orthodontist, rather than a dentist.

I was recommended braces by my dentist and went for Invisalign, it was cheaper, easier and an overall shorter treatment. highly recommend it. thanks for motivating me, I've been in the same kind of slump and watching you got me moving and doing things!

It’s so refreshing to see you always get back into the groove of things. I can really relate, I can be doing so amazing and after the 3 week mark even the littlest of things will knock me down. And get back to it is so hard but I know if I don’t my eating habits will get worse. So love seeing the representation of those of use who struggle with just straight success. ❤

I’ve got braces and just had jaw surgery to correct my underbite. I struggled to eat and had a lot of jaw pain so it was something I really wanted to get done and was something I had contemplated for years. If you’re not having any complications I wouldn’t worry about it. You have such a beautiful smile 💜

What I did this past weekend was put all my vegetable cutting gadgets in a big plastic bin for quick access. (Bought a ton on Temu 🤦‍♀️) When I made lunch with veggies today, it went so much faster. Before I was spending forever chopping everything.

Bea, listen to your body! Don’t force yourself to workout if you feel weak. It’s ok to rest. I just got over the flu and man was it rough! I felt very weak and tired even a few days after being over the initial infection. Walking and cooking knocked me out. It’s been 13 days since I got sick and I’m finally feeling more myself and was able to do a little workout yesterday. Hope you are feeling better!

When pouring liquids into ziploc bags… put the ziploc bag in a jug ( like a juice jug) fold the top over the rim, so the jug holds the bag open, and then pour the liquid in! Also I love your videos.
