Here's what I do for big catfish. Soak meat a few hours or overnight in milk or saltwater. Broil it on high for 15-20 minutes. It'll make the fat meat and blood line come to the surface. Pick the fat and bloodline out and keep the good meat.

When I was like 16 I went night catfishing with my buddy. We bought 3 tubs of livers. Fished until day light. When we got back to his place we stuck what we had left in the fridge as we were gonna fish the next night, too. Went out side to clean fish. When we came back in, his mom fixed breakfast liver onions, eggs, and biscuits. Yeah, neither of us ate or said a word just went to bed.😂😂

The reason why the catfish tasted disgusting is because you took the skinner side so it’s gonna be more fishy. I have eaten 40lbs + catfish and always pick the thicker/whiter chunks so it tastes less fishy. No hate tho just advice

Large catfish can still be eaters you just have to prep them right the fillets have to soak in an ice bath for starters which will clean as you put it swampy flavor out of it

Flair definitely take the rest of the catfish and soak the meat in some butter milk in the fridge overnight and then rinse the butter milk off with cold tap water and then bread it up and I guarantee you that the butter milk will take the fishy and mud water taste away from the taste of the meat!!! You definitely should try it and then maybe you won’t be mad for wasting the meat!!!

With a set line on the bank I like to have the bail closed, but the drag backed off. I tend to use a better rod holder though. Each to their own. If you leave a thin layer of meat on the catfish skin when filleting it will take out a lot of the “fishyness,” also taking out all of the red meat will help. Then it’ll give you a whole new taste profile

With catfish after you get the filets, soak them in ice water for 5 minutes. Then wash off the filets making sure no slime is left. Then put them in gallon bag and fill it above the fillet with water, take the air out of the bag and freeze it. This will help correct the bad taste from catfish.
