I appreciate "Save A Fox" showing the difficult part of their job and reminding people that these are mostly wild animals they are asked to work with. Such a beautiful animal, too! That said, I wish people would understand that no matter how much a coyote looks like a dog ... IT ISN'T! Lovely creatures, though. I'm glad she found a good home!

@@mathiasseider2722 Any animal can be worked with provided those involved have the training and experience necessary. Problem is, most don't, nor do many people have the mentality necessary to live with a wild animal. That being said, I don't promote the widespread bans on keeping these animals, as nature can only be preserved by those who choose to live alongside it. There does, however, need to be a comprehensive licensing system in place, so the animals needs can be accounted for, while preventing the unqualified from handling them.

If you ever run into a few of them in the wild you won't think they're so sweet. The more they're around humans the more aggressive they can be and your puppy or cat would be a tasty morsel. Only people that are trained should handle them as this video shows just how viscous one can be even though it WAS a pet.

@@sullygaming1137 It varies on the territorial nature of the coyote. More urban ones are more easily agitated because they have smaller territory, usually making them more desperate for meals. It can still happen in the more rural parts, but is much more rare if there's more types of predators around too. If I recall, bobcats are notorious for encroaching on other predators' territories in the southern parts of the US, so they'd likely be more of a problem for you than the coyotes, yeah.

@@getin3949 i mean of course.... they're wild animals. and they're created to eat smaller animals. It doesn't mean they shouldn't be loved and their lives shouldn't be protected just because they're not often "pet material". Coyotes most often *shouldn't* be "sweet" to humans or small animals. It is kind of crazy to see how much more dangerous a socialized coyote is. I raised an orphan coyote baby, she arrived before she even opened her eyes. My german shepherds became her "pack" and she slept in my room at night, with me. She grew up to be quite gentle. I never disciplined her though. It had to be her idea, lol. So getting her to do/not do something was a matter of distracting her. I never had any issues of her leaving- she was always free to join the wild packs on our farm. This was 50 years ago, I had a menagerie of animals- but she was always my favorite.

If you got captured for a reason that is completely unknown to you, would you want to be sedated or experience the whole thing? A difficult question. It's either sleep though it or be angry, scared and confused. I have seen people really hurt themselves because of being in that state, let alone animals. I agree sedation is still kind of sad, because they don't understand what is going on and you are taking their free will and even control over their body. But yeah, with sedation at least you shorten the time spent in confusion and panic.

This video really makes me miss seeing Dakota 🥲 I hope he’s still doing well 🤞🏻 I really enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes. Thanks for posting. What a beautiful coyote Piper is. I’m thrilled she has a wonderful new home. I hope her and Angel will thrive together. Does the Wildlife center also have a KZbin channel?

I very like that the coyote is not hurt in any physical way more than a little bit of stress and she ends perfectly fine the process

This was very fascinating. Always interesting to see behind the scenes type videos. The lady who runs that conservation is so knowledgeable and was interesting to hear her talk about things. You can tell she has the same passion for animals that you guys do. But, man... Watching Piper put up the fight she did was a bit nerve wracking! 😫 So glad that everything ended well! 😊

You are all amazingly kind. Working with wild animas is so dicey and you guys are champs. Please, please never forget the dangers. A friend of my late sister lost his life to rabies. He was an animal control officer in the California foothills. They never figured out how he was infected.

I have seen a variation on that trap cage in the UK for catching Lions and Tigers at Zoo's and wildlife parks. Once the big cat is inside the end wall slides inwards on rails so it effectively works like a cattle crush and places the animal into a restricted space so the cat cannot turn. That way injecting them, taking blood, mobile x-rays and all sorts of other simple procedures are risk free for the handers and the animal. Something like that would have worked well here. Nice low floor Dodge Ram Van, based upon the popular European Fiat Ducato. Its great having a van that you can stand in and easily step in and out of.

The cage needs to be designed with "Squeeze Cute" design, with the back wall able to moved forward to eliminate the animal's range of movement. Obviously the moveable end must have some tin shields to protect the persons hands as they push the tracked wall forward. With 4 barn door style track his could be an easy retro fit and using large wing nuts on the tracks would make the removeable when Not dealing with problem children like Piper.
