I live in Georgia where there aren't many Smallmouth Bass. I recently got back from my cousins cabin on a lake about 30 minutes east of Gaylord Michigan. I've been there quite a few times over the decades and always referred to the lake as the Dead Sea because I had never caught so much as a minnow. So this time my cousin took me out along with his grown son. They swore by nightcrawlers so I used them too. I caught one which was a real healthy 15 1/2 inches. Next time I fished Kitech style swimming jigs using a slow bottom retrieve while bouncing them vertically on the way in. Caught 7 more and lost one using an olive green/motor oil color and four came on a white one with sparkles. Nothing smaller than 15 inch with the largest at 18 1/2 inches. They were fat as footballs but we had no scale so I guessed about 2 1/4 pounds to 3 1/2. It's the Dead Sea no more!
