Wow, Nomad! That spot is bluegill paradise. So many big hand-sized gills. That Shad Fry lure is a killer. I am strongly considering purchasing the St. Croix Panfish Series rod, largely in part to watching you use their rods. My local Duck’s Sporting Goods has them and the 6’ looks and feels so nice! Awesome outing. Love those gills.🤌🙏🐟

Thanks. I've loved all my St. Croix rods. If you can manage it, go for the Avid Panfish over the regular Panfish Series. It's nicer, but the main reason I'd recommend it is due to it having a 15 year warranty instead of a 5 year. That extra ~$100 over 10 years is pennies a day and you'll have peace of mind for much longer.

@@TheFishingNomad 15 years…wow! It’s definitely on my list to pick up one of their rods over the next few months.

Wow, I was shocked to see you catch that many Bluegills but no Mayan Cichlids. I didn't think that was possible when pan-fishing in S. FL any more. And some really nice sized 'gills to boot! I'm going to check out those Zman Shad Fry... I have a small (2-1/8") go-to bait that mimics a mosquito fish (or possibly a small bass) that I really like, but they tear up fairly easily. Some days they'll last 4-5 bites, but rarely longer.

@@donalddaniels2675 This is the only body of water I know of that has such a strong bluegill population. I don't know what makes it so different, but I've also never caught any peacock bass out of here. For some reason the bluegills and largemouths here seem to have an advantage. This is my new favorite mini swim bait. It's awesome.
