Dagnel is starting to reach the limits of what he can do in ACNH, so he has now begun what I like to call “The Masochism Phase”. It is the phase that any challenge run channel eventually goes into in which each video is them going through deeper levels of pain and suffering, because the game can’t get pushed any further. the miyama stag probably just despawned. sometimes you can catch it at the right moment when the bugs do that, as ive seen it happen with butterflies and bugs that you find on the ground.

20:58 I'm no data miner or anything like that, this is purely from experience... but something I have noticed about this game is that for some reason it remembers the last tree that you interacted with, basically what makes the leaf moving animation, to the point that there is some actions that you can do from far away that can trigger the animation to play on that same tree. So my assumption is that your net breaking triggered that animation despite you not being near the tree, however I didn't see the livestream to know if that was the last tree you touched, but hey, that's just a theory. I still wouldn't count it as a restart because it's the game's code fault and you were stuck in a cutscene with nothing you could do besides preventing the bug net from breaking, but that's dumb. - Video showing the tree animation glitch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGisnZuJg7Jgqbc

@@Dagnel I don't know if you've already found out, but I checked the VOD and that is the last tree you caught something on, around 5 minutes prior. So this is very likely the cause of that bug getting spooked. If you already knew, then at least other people can read this comment and know that it was probably this glitch.

Haven’t played ACNH since it came out honestly as I was really disheartened for a while on the lack of content that was immediately out and how we had to wait for it. I recently came across your channel last week and have binged SO many videos. It really made me miss this game and I decided to delete my old island to start all over from the beginning. i know im late but idk if you knew that when you’re “stalking” a bug (as in holding A and walking slowly), if you want to interrupt the action without hitting your net onto the ground and potentially scaring away nearby bugs, you can press X to open your inventory and your avatar will change into the thinking position without hitting the net

A trick to doing restart challenges like these is to not restart when the run is dead. Complete it anyway, noting all the failure states. That way you can learn all the pitfalls without as much repetition of the early parts

explanation for 21:00 jic nobody's given it some bugs have a timer on them, when i was catching atlas moths i noticed this. The timer is very quick on them. If you don't catch them within the timer, they fly away.

19:52 I've noticed in some games that some actions are tied with others even if it makes no sense. It's why I think a random bug got scared when your net broke, as it shook the tree somehow. I notice this much more in heavily glitchy games like Disney Dreamlight Valley for example. If you do any action it forces the critters around you to cycle back in action. They shouldn't be connected but maybe something in the code is oddly linked together. I saw the tree for instance in this video was the closest tree to you at the time. So yeah it 10000% wasn't your fault but the game being weird. (Take this with a grain of salt. I have no idea how or why it actually happens XD just my observation from gaming so much)

When the net breaks you can see the tree shake. The physics of the net break animation are probably using camera coordinates not world coordinates. The area of affect would be calculated in the incorrect position.

This video gave me an idea. Something similar except its catching all fish without failing. I think that could be just as painful as this one especially with axiety thumb. I think a more fun challenge could be catching a coelacanth, or other sea fish in every game, but if you catch a sea bass you have to restart.
