How do you know it's too cold to go fishing? Maybe it's when you have to shovel ice and snow off the boat. In today's video we link up with ‪@OnTheWaterMedia‬ Editor Matt Haeffner to target Atlantic Pollock 30 miles offshore in the middle of the winter. Temperature in the morning was 22 Degrees Fahrenheit, but that didn't stop us from having a fun day on the water! This video is full of banter, giant fish, pulling drag, and of course a special catch & cook at the end. Hope you enjoy!
Grocery store fish is poor quality and expensive! Text "FISH" to 833-207-9578 to receive updates the next time Cam is selling fresh Daily Catch fish.

Do you know of any inshore saltwater species that stick around during the winter? Other than holdovers and perch that is. I'm always curious if I would be able to find anything other than a skate or dogfish if I ever tried to fish from the surf in February.
@Tackle2thePeople
@Tackle2thePeople Жыл бұрын
Not sure! You're braver than I if you're willing to beat the surf this time of year. But I hear holdover action is solid in RI and CT right now.

What is your favorite thing to eat that you would normally get from a drive thru ? Just curious because I have been craving a filet of fish for the 2nd time in my whole life lol . The 1st time was right after I had my 1st , since I never had the 2nd way back in my past it is likely the same as the only thing I ever order is a sausage egg biscuit with a COKE 🛟

I enjoy the channels that are all about the cast and reel and the pure enjoyment of catching a beautiful fish, but when I see see legal-caught, good-eating fish being released, it just seems...wrong. Videos like this one where the haul is like Peter's in the Sea of Galilee, and the fish are brought in to be eaten gratefully, reminds me of the sea's bounty. Love this content.

What do you do with the lamprays? (or the fish that stick on) and are they parasites to the fish?
@randomthings1182
@randomthings1182 7 ай бұрын
the fish that stick onto bigger fish or sharks are called Remora and they are harmless to the fish or sharks they are on. but lampreys you throw away back into the water as they are a parasite to fish feeding off there blood but if a fish has one and it gets removed the meat should be fine to eat along as the lamprey has not gotten to far into it.

@kisiver
@kisiver 10 ай бұрын
it depends how you're going fishing, if you take a normal rod, some bread/corn/worms and you go sjt on a chair, have a drink and maybe a snack, it's very relaxing but if you go, idk, tuna fishing or something, it's a real exercise because those fish can be hella heavy, bur if you go fishing like in the tv serie "deadliest catch" for example, it's almost like being in the army.

In main I saw this guy catching Pollack by like 5 fish per toss, and he was killing them by smashing their head against a sharp rock. Is that a good way to kill the fish?
@henningskaldehaug992

Nice video but I feel like I have to give some constructive criticism. When Catching this species like many others you should bleed the fish in cold water for about 10 minutes to get all the blood out. If that's not practically possible you should at least bleed it immediately. If you don't do this you will end up with fish that has bloody meat that results in low quality and fast spoiling. Some of the fish in this video would not be allowed to be delivered to the fish market here where I am from (Norway). Just so it's clear. You seem like you know most of what you are doing and I am not trying to make you seem any Les. But as a professional fisherman that has experience in every link in both fishing and the fish farming industry i feel like I had to speak up. Other than that, keep up the good work and may you guys catch plenty of fish in the future.
