Lake Borgne is an awesome fishing destination that gives up generous numbers of speckled trout and redfish, so when I launched from Rigolets Marina it was the popular rigs that I had in mind to fish.
It took a little bit to get a bite going, but I was able to put a good number of fish in the boat before leaving to find them elsewhere.
And I DID find them elsewhere, just not as plentiful and farther away (not in Lake Borgne).
But this doesn't mean I wouldn't have limited out if I had remained in Lake Borgne.
I just have a knack for wanting to take a ride and check out other stuff and, honestly, that's how you stay on fish and remain successful as an inshore angler: by constantly cover water and know what's out there.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this video fishing Lake Borgne for speckled trout and, if you did, please hit that "thumbs up" button to let me know.
If you didn't, then please leave constructive criticism in the comments section below.

Thanks for watching, and tight lines!

Camera settings were extremely noticeable for some reason, first rig stop, I don’t recall past video being so well balanced, sharp, clear, not sure if you made adjustments, I’m watching while it’s overcast or bc the sun wasn’t blazing yet! Whatever it was, imagining looked fantastic, almost like a professional! lol Good trip, pretty trout, dark backs!!

Just curious why did you let all of them go this time you counted up to 19 and you let all of them go so with all the other videos you kept your limit and you took them home you feel laid them and you ate them so I'm just curious on why you let these go

Another great video Devin! Question, I tie my drop shot weight on a double rig on the short front leader and tie a light lead head (1/16) with a light, small bait on the long leader. I noticed you had the bait tied real close to the leader near the mainline with the weight on the bottom of said leader. I've been doing it all wrong. I've caught fish the way I do it, but do you think it makes that much of a difference the way you had it rigged? Thx in advance.
@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 3 жыл бұрын
The way I tie a drop shot is a "true" drop shot. Does it make a difference? I haven't scientifically tested that in a controlled environment, so I don't know. lol But I do know the classic drop shot, the way I have it tied, is the tried and true way of doing it. I'm just emulating anglers I've learned from. For more details check out this guide I wrote: www.lafishblog.com/drop-shot-for-speckled-trout/

Just curious when this trip actually occurred. Was this a July trip or earlier in the Spring / Summer before fish moved more outside?

I was at that same spot Tuesday and trout were there. Gotta go to know! And I know no one likes hearing that, but that's what I do and I don't think it's much to ask of others to do the same. Nobody tells me where fish are biting, and I ask they don't anyway because I'd rather find fish myself.
@JohnSibley1
@JohnSibley1 3 жыл бұрын
@@LAFishBlog that's definitely helpful. I have definitely been getting out there, but have been burning a lot more gas to fish the exterior bays thinking that most of the fish had moved out of Lake Borgne. I realize it takes time editing hours of video to make this end product. I just didn't know how long it had been between the trip date and when the video actually dropped, so was just trying to make sure. The videos you post are definitely invaluable and have helped me learn a ton. It would be helpful to include the date of the actual trip in the video description so that people doing their homework / trip planning could lookup the conditions (water temp, wind, tides, etc) on the date the trip occurred. All the stuff you teach in LAFB Elite.

@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSibley1 Alright, John, this is what I do and I am very passionate about it, so please bear with me, because I have some really good points to make: First and foremost, thank you for watching, thank you for your kind words and, above all, thank you for being a member of LAFB Elite. POINT #1 KZbin is not a good teaching platform and, if it were, I wouldn't have my website and its courses formatted with all its features. In fact, if KZbin were a good teaching platform not only would I save myself the load of time and money I put into operating LAFB Elite, but my videos wouldn't be edited to entertain. But I've published videos edited to educate and you know what? No one watched them, not like they do these "entertaining" videos. So I don't make them for KZbin. I save them for people who actually give a shit and want to learn something real. POINT #2 Using these KZbin videos as a way to plan a fishing trip is not really a good choice when you have the process that's laid out inside Inshore Fishing 101 and other courses (which you do because you're a member of LAFB Elite). Again, the video is edited to entertain and excel on KZbin's algorithm. The two things that are going to get you on fish are the process to find them and then ACTUALLY EXECUTING THAT PROCESS. If you're burning gas and covering water then GOOD because you're doing it right, especially this time of year. What do you think I'm doing? Going straight to the fish? LMAO!!!! Otherwise I know I see many people spending way too much time fishing the same few spots, or not making the effort to get out there earlier and go farther. POINT #3 On top of that, editing these videos to the extent I do is a major effort. Thank you for noticing that. That effort takes TIME. And, of course, if I published exact fishing spots and times the majority of my peers in this niche would be upset with me and less likely to work with me and promote my brand. So why would I piss them off? That and how can I say the process works if I have to spoon feed people exact spots and times? The point here is that there is WAY MORE TO THE GAME than just publishing fishing videos willy-nilly. That and there's tons of reviews inside LAFB Elite raving about how the process works. POINT #4 Fishing reports inside LAFB Inshore (and plenty of other great Facebook groups) are far more timely than any KZbin video. I only say it at the end of each video, so who cares when this video was shot? I also say to read LAST YEAR's fishing reports. That's where me, Chas, and all those guys are headed next. Whatever is in last year's fishing reports. So why ask when this video was shot? Especially when you have access to literal Fishing Trip Reviews that have GPS tracks ready to download? Last, but not least, if you're having trouble finding fish (not that you are), why not post inside the LAFB Elite Facebook group? Those people have the same mindset as you and you're not going to get dumbass "in the water" answers like you normally see in a public group. You have access to great resources, you really ought to use them. Tight lines, John.

@@JCASTELLUCCIOJR I don’t have any issues with any of my other reels. Some r not rated to cast 1/8 and I still do. I think maybe it’s the reel. But I actually have two of them and they both do the same thing. Maybe it’s just my able to cast 1/8 like it’s advertised to be able to.
