He was detained from the START he was free to leave when he left, neither did the officer say he was detained after.

To jump out of a car and run into a store trying to evade police with a rifle under your shirt, only to yell it's not yours when you are caught is probably the dumbest thing I've heard in years. If it's under your shirt while running from the law, it's yours. You're gonna get charged with it no matter what. Now you'll also get a charge for possession of a stolen firearm, cuz I'm positive that if it's a legal firearm, nobody gave you permission to use it while running from police.

No, the booze and the accusations of accosting minors were already good enough for probable cause. And I suspect that the cop suspected a firearm too. People carrying a murse like that often have a firearm on them. Plus, the dude already admitted he was only 19. So put 2 and 2 together. You must be 21 to carry a firearm concealed in Florida, so that's EVEN MORE probable cause to at least arrest the dude, then search him and relieve him of all the illegal crap he was carrying.

Well my family is Portuguese, and I have a darker complexion than most people. But I’m white. I’m of European descent. Some Hispanic people have indigenous American in them. So they are much darker and would fall more into the “dark male” category. If that makes sense

The girls he was hitting on reported him to the mall security after offering them booze and asking them to sit on his lap. The youngest girl was 14, and after they walked off he followed them. There was whole video just for this. It was later determined based on ballistics and autopsy that he shot himself.

Look up the real story. He asked a group of girls how old they were, and when they said their age, he walked away. The alcohol was unacceptable, but the cop kept pushing him for some reason. The dude got scared and decided to fight. I dont understand how something so simple went so wrong.

@@one.2622 This clip was from 3 years ago, and the group of girls approached the mall security and reported that a man was trying to give them booze and ask them to sit on his lap. The youngest a 14 year old told him that they were all minors and walked away he followed them before the the OD officer approached him. This wasn't just a man spotted by security and OD officer but reported by the minors. There has been several breakdowns and tactic talks about this. The OD officer followed training and gave the perp what he needed to get him out of the mall quietly, so the public would be as less risk. His only failure was not having his backup or on duty officer waiting for them. That is full story, and break down. The cop was not pushing him, the cop was buying time waiting for backup that was nowhere to be seen.

yeah, it was weird of him doing that, there are better avenues, but asking their age first thing when you're on the border of adulthood makes sense. But I think in this case even before they knew about him they were right in assuming the worst. Sometimes you can just tell 100% what's going on. And the officer said that it was obvious that the kids in question were kids.

He was fucked either way because he didn't have a permit (obviously) and the gun may have been used for other crimes, so he figured might as well run. I don't know why everyone is missing that the cop was trapping him, he was never letting him go he was tricking him and then as soon as they were outside insisted on doing the bag search. If he had just let him go no one would have been shot at but he pushed it and didn't count on the gun.
