I've been operating skid steer for 38 years. I operated a w99D today for the first time on a pipeline right of way. I was reluctant to operate it, as I have a bad back from an old injury, and tend to want to stay away from skid steer equipment these days. Nevertheless, I was assigned work that required me to operate the machine on very rough terrain, working around side booms. As I drove the machine along the right of way, the very first thing I noticed was how smooth the ride is when compared with every other model of skid steer equipment I've operated. As I began moving the machine up to speed, I braced myself for the bone jarring shocks that I expected as I travelled. I was blown away by how well the undercarriage smoothed out the rough places. I knew something was up, which I why I came here to check out this video. Pretty much what I expected to find. I no longer feel reluctant to operate skid steer equipment, thanks to Cat's design for the undercarriage.

The 279D I run is butter smooth, makes grading super easy too.

How come you didnt compare to asvs track system and they also dont reply to comments poor service, unlike asv.

Ryan 354 why would you compre a obviously smother rid MTL to a CTl? They are different categories

Lol fooorrreeaalllll. My old asv tracks on my 277b were nice! My new 299d2 is nowhere near is smooth. It ain't no svl, but still could use improvement. When loaded with a bucket of dirt, it'll vibrate your teeth loose.

I've worked for CAT as a field tech since 2013, I own a bobcat 753, E50, and just bought a T770 bobcat track loader. I don't ever see myself owning a CAT CTL.

Might be comfortable but a rigidly mounted under carriage is far better for fine trimming

Once you get used to it, it's no different. Undercarriages move on dozers and track loaders, why should a skid steer be different?
