Her backstage interview for her first win is so different, she was quite shy and soft-spoken. Here she's totally relaxed, communicative and energetic. The magic of being experienced.

Her movie came out in the summer, half a year before all the hyped up flicks for the Oscars, and it wasn't about this tragic or compelling based on a true event story (even though it could happen) the writer and director is involved in a very shady situation. The woman was against all odds, and yet she went on to sweep all the acting awards this year. Yes she beat Judi Legendary Dench even at the BAFTAS! Why? Because her performance was beyond fucking brilliant! That's why!
@Candy6v910 жыл бұрын
Well said. It really is amazing how she took this season by storm, especially since she'd been absent from the industry/awards season for years. What a performance, what a reception, what a 'come back'. And what a feat to SWEEP on top of that (not just major industry awards, but critic awards), and to remain the outright frontrunner for nearly 8 months, even over a dragged out, heated external controversy. Amazing. And like you said, not a biopic, not Oscar bait, a fictional character, no politics, not on personality, etc. Just purely on the strength of performance, on merit, respect, admiration. 8 months. That's how undeniable she was. That's basically unheard of these days. This phenomenon of a season and return by one of the greatest film and stage actresses is one for the books.
@outinsider10 жыл бұрын
It is a shame that films released in the summer have a harder time to gain recognition from the industry versus being released later in the year. In the olden days of filmmaking, a film could be recognized no matter what time of the year it came out of. Talk about persistence. Still, I am glad that Blue Jasmine and The Help are testament that films could be recognized even after a mid-year release, and that those films have a chance. I love that neither of those films spelled Oscar bait either. Sure, they deserved recognition of their performers immensely, but it wasn't your typical Weinstein-esque later released Oscar bait film.

Oh come on, please! I'm from Germany and I swear to you if we really care we're actually able to speak like educated people. I don't know there they always take these reporters from speaking such shitty English. Hey, everything goes great. I just thought about how brilliant this woman is, I'd even forgotten how sorry I was for Amy Adams not to win -again- and then "Ann-Katrin from German television" comes up with that horrible "Germanenglish". It was the same thing last year then the German journalist in the press room interviewed Jennifer Lawrence. Hey, sure they're excited and its The Oscars... But guys, my 75 year old grandma cares more about her grammar and pronunciation. They have a year to prepare these two sentences, everybody else in that room gets it done. Just send someone who's spent a year abroad or something, fellas! Please, maybe I'm the only one who cares, but for me its gettin embarrassing!

She's very well educated, she knows. She was tipsy, but she might also have meant it like it sounded, as she was a bit rushed and overwhelmed already. I wonder what it would've been like in the telecast if she hadn't gotten to her seat in time before her name was called.

Yes, ok a good performance But let's not forget the entire film was a sham, Woody Allen's cheap rewarming of the Streetcar story. Can the Academy voters be such illiterates when it comes to cinematic history? Personally I would have preferred her to win this a couple of years later for her superb Carol.
