Gwyneth had been in a string of popular and acclaimed films and had basically become America's sweetheart at that point. Blanchett doesn't come from old money though (I'm pretty sure about this -- I watched a Biography on her). Rather, I've always speculated that part of why Blanchett is so "put together," is possibly the result of the influence her husband has had on her in their time together. I just have always had the feeling that he's greatly played an important role in shaping who and what she's become (I could be off on this, though). They've been together for YEARS, I know.

But, just because an actor wins a lot of acting awards---even if they're Oscars---it doesn't mean that they're the best actor. Katharine Hepburn won more Oscars than anybody ever has (for right now, at least), but she definitely was not the greatest actor who ever lived---but, great, though.

one of the greatest, most iconic, brilliant, sublime, flawless, historical performances ever in cinematic history. She'll eventually get a 3rd. Who do I have to sleep with to get a Stoli martini and a twist of LEMON? But as gorgeous as her dress is, it would give me so much anxiety to wear. Any snag on the jewels or embellishments would be an instant tear.

Nonsense. Paltrow was indeed, oscar worthy in Shakespeare in Love. And, I'm a huge fan of Blanchett.
@Ionlydategoodgirls2 ай бұрын
You don't realize that this is actually subjective, either by favoritism or undecisiveness. Fernanda Montenegro I'd say had the best performance that year, yet you think Cate had the best performance. But I've also watched a lot of people praising Paltrow's performance in Shakespeare in Love, she was marvelous there indeed. So, there you go
@tomosborne34374 жыл бұрын
Sometimes when I see the length of the speech extend beyond a couple of minutes I think - this is going to be dull. Not here. Cate Blanchett is just as captivating in performance as she is accepting a speech. A superb acceptance.
