The design makes it look light and nimble. What a beautiful car.

It’s a lovely thing in the flesh. Not too retro. Nice detailing.

Stunning car, this is the competition that Lotus and Porche needs !

I’m not sure that Lotus needs competition, but I get your point 👍

A very elegant and nicely proportioned design. Its the kind of car they need to build. I also liked the illuminated Caterham logo in the headlights. Hopefully the rear lights make it to production. Much better than the Ford Mondeo units used on the Caterham 21 back in the day. Anyone remember the Caterham 21?

Such a beautiful car. It reminds of the Artega Gt a bit.

Sounds like the Granturismo had a baby with a Aston Martin sport car.

Fifty-five kilowatt-hour** not fifty-five kilowatts per hour.

looks nice, but would have been fantastic if they somehow used a manual gearbox

It’s electric ⚡️

@@karlhurn Although, it is possible to mate a manual gearbox to an electric motor, perhaps develop a motor that spins to 7000rpm say and can have similar torque characteristics. It must be possible to do it in a production car, since there is a restored 356 with the system I described above.

What a shame, they missed a trick with this car by making it electric. If they had stuck a high revving ICE, mated with a manual or sequential box, it would have flown off the shelves.

It makes perfect sense really. A small company like Caterham couldn’t develop a car that they would only be able to sell for a few years. After 2030, this is all you can sell.

@@karlhurn It’s a tough one because everyone’s scrambling to buy the last ICE sports cars before they’re banned, as a last hoorah. Could they have made more money this way, leaving them with more money for future EV platforms? Besides, I happen to think carbon neutral synthetic fuels will bring back ICE sports cars. Porsche is aggressively developing synthetic fuels…because they’d rather be damned than to lose the 911 to electrification!
