Caterham Roadsport 125 Blat

A quick blat in a hired Caterham Roadsport. Spec: 1.6 Sigma engine (125bhp), S3 body, 5 speed 'box.

It was £450 for the weekend (Friday 09:00 till Mon 09:00). Quite expensive, but the smiles per £ made it a good deal :-)

Hi and thanks. I was surprised at how quick the 125bhp car was, although it always feels faster than it is, but that's not a bad thing. Personally I would definitely go for the 140bhp version (SS). It will have a free-er top end and also revs higher, however there's no reason not to get the 125bhp car and then upgrade it through companies such as Premier Power Engines to 155bhp, 175bhp or even 200bhp !!

The roadsport 175 is plenty quick enough, let me tell you. 4.5 seconds to 60 but it feels even quicker.

Fun video, great quality. I'm now thinking about buying a roadsport caterham, I'm not a great driver a lot to learn but do you feel that size of engine is enough power to have fun in or do you think say 140bhp would be better long term? (Save maybe making 2 purchases within say 2 years)

@@craigthornberry6404 Good for you. Any comments re interior size - I assume it's a standard width car? Do you think the 150bhp car is ideal, or would you like more power? I am vaguely considering the possibility of adding one to my very modest stable.

Great video. Did you use the built in Go Pro microphone or an external one. I have been trying to record good exhaust sound but difficult to eliminate wind noise.

John Wilson yes I use a Polar Pro external mic which is placed down on the wheel arch by the exhaust.

I hired this car from [the now defunct] Caterham Midlands. I've also previously hired from Open Road Hire in Scotland.

+granthibbett Was that the one right near Enderby? I live so close to that so I was really disappointed when I phoned them up and found out they were closed :/ I'm now considering Caterham South in West Sussex or Blue Sky in Lancaster.

why do you let the car run in neutro? if the engine dies you have no brakes and no steering.

I don't, I put it into 5th. Either way, seeing as brakes and steering are non-assisted on all Caterhams, even if the engine did die it would make no difference.
