Brings back memories,Dad had a Cat d6c 74a and I had the chance to operate it loved the sound and the power of that old girl,one of my all time favorite bulldozers

not a very easy machine to run this smooth. takes a lot of time and this guy looks like a great operator.
@regsparkes65078 жыл бұрын
Now here's an operator who know's exactly what his job is and does it perfectly. Feller, buncher, land clearing ( stumps removed as well as the tress ) and does this before the tress are out in leaf/ Great work and enjoyable to watch from the driver's seat too.

Yeah, definitely a good operator, knows how to drive!

FINALLY!!! Someone that doesn't mind running one and running it smooth! I never had a decelerator on a straight drive but see that you do. They'd be very handy. One had the blade control handle like yours and a foot tilt. It was a 'B' powershift and a nice tractor but not as good as a 'C'. You do a good job. I always tried to run one smooth. An old operator friend told me that he ran them like he was sitting at home in his recliner. I've always tried to make him happy.

Excellent video. My friend just bought a similar D6 and I'll have him watch it. He has a bunch of fallen trees to clean up and has never operated a dozer, The GoPro did good. Thanks
@AndreasvonT8 жыл бұрын
+RadicatTat I appreciate your comment. Good luck to your friend. It can be dangerous in the woods so tell him to take his time and be careful. Thanks for watching!
@lewiemcneely91438 жыл бұрын
+RadicatTat Tell him to watch the ones he has already run over. They'll come up behind him and spear him. The Oregon boys that used to skid with 6's call them 'Jill Pokes'; and they're dangerous as all get out! It might be a good idea for him to get a good operator he knows to show him how to get started.

According my sources, the D-6C was manufactured from 1963-77, the same as my D-4D. Another source suggests 1967-77, but I think 1963 is probably more accurate. I haven't had any time on my D-4D yet, but from your video, it looks like "direct drive" keeps the operator pretty busy. Thanks for the driving lesson.

Definitely 1963 Dad owned one !!

Master operator right there! I can barely run a new joystick dozer that smooth. This reminds me of the D6D my grandfather had when I was little. I always wondered what the long lever on the left was for, it looks to be a hand operated clutch?
@AndreasvonT3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Chris. Yes the lever is the clutch.

I reckon you've sat at the fun end of that old girl for a couple of days. It certainly seems to be a handful but it sings a sweet song of burnin" diesel. All of the sounds are a symphony.

I love it. Bought it about 47 years ago

so standard shift means stick shift / manual transmission right?
@AndreasvonT Жыл бұрын
yes a manual clutch and gear shifts
@tonyodempsey6755 Жыл бұрын
There are 2 types of transmission, Direct Drive and Power Shift. This one is Direct Drive. It keeps your hands very busy.
@dennydixon1556 Жыл бұрын
Use to own d6c 99j it was very good dozer and to me not hard to operate just keep transmission brake set

direct drive tractors use far less fuel and do not get hot when plowing or travelling in one direction. they are weird at first because but you get used to them
@danietkissenle3 жыл бұрын
old machines still get it done now as well as they did back then
@AndreasvonT3 жыл бұрын
Yes sir they do!

Was the Hand Clutch a factory lever ? Good camera placement.
@AndreasvonT9 жыл бұрын
+VideosByAl Yea as far as I know all the standard tranny models had the hand clutch. Thanks again for watching and giving the feedback. Much appreciated!

These trees only live for about 100 years. they are mature now. New trees grow very quickly from the roots that are still in the ground.
