The old D9G and the 245 two of my favourite Cat machines I remember being given a chance to run a D9 I was 19 years old (I'm 57 now), I thought I was king of the hill. Happy happy days. Thankyou so much for making this video.

+Duncan Hesketh Your welcome and glad you enjoyed it! That's cool. The D9G is still considered one of Cat's finest dozers. What I found cool about this job was the fact that it was two of Caterpillar's ex-flagship machines working together.

Thanks for sharing. I love the old stuff. The sound of that D9 reminds me of my childhood, the fan and squeaky tracks. Great memories. Thanks

I never thought it is possible to meet such an old machine in the USA working in mining industry. Today everybody talks about fuel efficiency, productivity and other stuff. Nice piece of history!

Half the time these old tractors are more reliable than new ones today. Of course they cant come close to today's comfort and ergonomics, but they're tough machines to beat.

Love watching the old CAT machines at work. Got a few video's of an old D9G still working in Ireland just over a year ago myself. Brilliant machines. Anyway great video. Thanks for sharing

Two fine machines. I ran a 245 a couple of winters at the local boulder hole when it was too cold to haul concrete.,It was fitted with a hydraulic hammer and was a nice "office job" when the snow was on the ground. Haven't had a shot at a 9-G, yet! The old 8-H is it so far. Good Video, Pal!

+Lewie McNeely Glad you enjoyed it! The 245 was the first excavator I ever got to run.
@lewiemcneely91439 жыл бұрын
I liked the way they were set up better than the new ones. Directional especially. The individual pedals for forward and reverse worked better for me with arthured feet. It was a sweet rig with a hammer and a shovel front. They didn't have a hoe.

I bet it's safe to say that by this point these machines don't owe a penny to their owners!

PAmining , thanks for the fine video Great footage of CAT equipment still earning their keep. I am not too familiar with the 245, but that D9G is moving well given the age on the tracks. I t sure could stand a new set of .tracks . I have many hours on an older D9G, say about 10 years older than this fine CAT .I never had the luxury of a cab , only a heat Tube over the radiator. It sure makes an operator very dusty after a shift back in the '70's. We.Sure did hope for a gentle rain to keep the dust down back in the old days.

I've Enjoyed running Dozer for 46 years, started on Cat D7 17A, no Turbo, Loved it, up to D10 and D9T with backup camera, That would have saved some neck for retirement🤔😊😊😊

Back when all Cats were made in the USA. 60 years old and still running strong. Weld up the final drive cases, and get another 15,000 hours on them.

It really is amazing that a few years can change the sound of the diesel engine so much! Also I'm curious if the D9 G is the same size as the D9 T.

Monster D9 CAT led the way to even bigger better machines like the 70 ton HD41 Allis Chalmers, and then the true monsters that we have today, way over 100 ton.

Are the pockets on the bucket for lifting, or did someone put ripper pockets on it?
@PAmining8 жыл бұрын
No those are for ripper teeth so the back of the bucket can be used for ripping through rock
@mikecheeseman976 жыл бұрын
Loved driving mine only problem I had was when the ripper hose broke on me while in work showering me in red hot oil soon got out of the cab quick time pipe was sheered off by the cab vibration on the hose other than that I had to keep flicking the dozer blade as it was always working out and must have pumped about a ton of grease into the track tensioners. Though we never had a donkey engine for starting never failed to start.
@cumminspoweredab74416 жыл бұрын
I take it the mounting on the back of the bucket was for ripping teeth at one time?

so uhh.. i heard from a certain mister.. vantagetes.. you're doing a video on the dart loader? i'm waiting. veeery excitedly. my uncle who worked in the iron mine in another town took me into the area once to have a look at all the machinery, and a dart was standing in a ditch, and i've been trying to dig up info on the damn thing ever since. turns out it's rare as hell, and extremely difficult to find anything on it online.. your video will give me peace of mind.
