I think another name for you should be “Catfish Mechanic” An auto mechanic try’s many different tactics to diagnose and determine why a car won’t run like it’s supposed to. When you fish, you look at bait, depth, line, whether you ate some cheese yet(😂) wind and tweak everything until you find where they are and make it happen. Nice biggun!!

Squid was what My brother and I used for 2 days in Lake Corpos Christi almost 30 years ago. Nice small white ones that were fresh and smelled like the kind to cook for calmari. But no bites on a couple hundred trotline hooks. Then we broke out the cast net and caught a bunch of threadfin shad and mixed sunfish used whole if small or cut if large. That day we caught two nice messes of cats for the freezer. Other times we used cut mullet or soap if the water was cold.
