I've always used grasshopper's for bait in the river's near me but I use them for smallmouth bass. Get yourself a wool blanket and place it in the field and walk in circles around it, starting wide and then work yourself into the blanket. For some reason their legs stick to the blanket and you can gather them up easier.

@@RiverCertified I know it's a sob story and don't mean to bring you down but it really warms my heart to see you out there with your brother. I have two brothers that I met when I turned 17. One of them has taken a bad path doesn't really have anything to do with me due to this white powder he's struggling with he's my middle brother and my older brother committed suicide about 20 years ago. My older brothers the one that took me under his wing and always came and hung out with me but depression hit him and he committed suicide. I envy you man I really wish I could go fishing with my brother's to. Fishing is my top hobby and as much as I love it it's one thing I never got to do with either one of them. So again I truly warns my heart to see you out there with him.

Spencer I have been fishing for channel cats with grasshoppers for years. I prefer the big yellow ones. Here’s a tip go out at night with a headlamp you can pick grasshoppers off of the weeds and tall grass like berries. I usually fill a quart jar full in 20 to 30 minutes. Poke holes in the lid and the will stay alive for weeks in the refrigerator and keep them in a cooler with ice when fishing. I like a 3/0 circle hook with 1 BB size split shot against the hook eye.

I like your videos so im going to share this gresshopper catching tecnique . We have mesquite trees here in Texas but this should work on any short tree where you have a lot of grasshoppers. Wait until Dark use a flashlight and walk up to the hoppers and pick them off the trees. We will fill a one gallon water jug with hoppers in about 20 minutes with 2 of us picking.

This was a cool video. There's a Mormon cricket catfish bite in my local area. People flip over rocks by the river like they do for crawdads in creeks looking for bait. You run into scorpions while rockfliping on the bank here. Its crazy how there can be crazy bite with bait you wouldn't think about using for cats. Especially when there's an overabundance of that prey item during times of the year

Catch your grasshoppers at night in tall Johnson grass. Take a flashlight and a sack thehoppers will freeze in the light and you just pick the off the grass. You can get fifty in about 30 minutes.

@@RiverCertified not that I have ever noticed but I am throwing a 6 oz lead out to sea about 100 yards 😳 😅 and it never seems to bother them rays and smooth hounds or bream or bass

Have you considered using a yellow light for your filming at night? Bugs are less prone to swarming it.
