With bullheads that big, if you're using the kayak rod holder, you should leave your reel engaged, and loosen the drag. You want it just tight enough that the bait can't pull line, but not so tight that the flathead can't take line. When you're ready to set the hook, just tighten the drag till it buries itself. It's very effective and it's the only way I use a clicker.

I swear bullheads are a pain in the ass to unhook. Unlike other catfish or any other fish in general, they purposefully try to bite onto your fingers when your unhooking them. When we caught them, we used to joke about how they’d rather try and bite you as hard as they possibly can than to be set free.

I read once about why fish will only bite on one persons line and not another, it came to soap, shampoo, deodorants and diet because it too can add scent thru the skin pours. Up until II read this I always just thought, "lucky bastard" or, "this really sucks, I'm gonna kick him into the lake!" Great video and nice cats!!
