@ericwilliams6264 жыл бұрын
They used him and he wasn't managed properly. All they had to do is provide a moment like this at the end of the Partridge Family and they would have had two or even three more seasons. The producers were idiots. Then if he stayed in acting he could have developed more into an adult image. Instead he was a weak Elvis show after he cut his hair. What a shame. He needed a manager. He was a sitting duck afterwards and nobody would take a meeting.

I agree with you. The sad thing is two things: 1)the entertainment industry wouldn't let him shake off the teen idol image because most of them thought that's all he ever was and could be. 2) his dad's jealousy of his success and rejection of him. I think that truly drove David Cassidy to alcoholism. He truly loved his dad and he even had said the more successful he gotten the more his dad resented him. Sad!

He was just so talented! My sister and I saw him in 1972. David Cassidy, oh my goodness it was so wonderful! I can still remember all of it, my sister and I (everyone thought we were twins, but we were 15 months apart in age) were dressed in the same little white crochet dresses. We both ran down to the front of the stage and David saw us. He was singing "Cherish" and when he saw us both he smiled and threw us both a kiss. I about hit the floor right then and there and Deb just stood there transfixed. I guess our reactions tickled David, he started to laugh and lost a couple of words to the song LOL. We went back to our seats, Mom was laughing and I have NEVER forgotten that night, how I felt seeing him in person and the personal interaction my sister and I had with him. Never will either :)

Aaaaaamaaaaaaaziiiing!!!!!!! Had no idea 1) this song existed 2) David could sing like this 3) David could write a song like this style 4) David could play piano like this this!!!!! The arrangement and live performance of all the musicians on this is so very notable . Who is playing sax ? Tom Scott, David Sanbourne? Thrilled, awed, and giving deepest respect and gratitude for the powerhouse talent that David was. He lost his Mom, his sobriety, his performance career. I believe those things made him lose his life. I truly respect performers who sing up until the end of their lives. RIP David. A singers life brings joy to the world, but , that same life can be so isolated... Love and Mercy
