Cathay Dragon from Kuala Lumpur in Business Class

Welcome to my flight review. Since March 2017, Cathay Dragon has begun to operate flights between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, substituting Cathay Pacific. I am delighted to try this service last month. The operating aircraft was 22.6 year-old during my flight. It consists of 42 Business Class Seats and 265 Economy Class Seats. The service was awesome and you will find out more in the video.

Hi again, this is John I take this Cathay Dragon flight very often and its just ok. The lounge is lousy, the food is lame to. I'm tempted to fly down to Singapore and take CX from there to HKG now and get real Cathay service.

When I first travelled with Cathay Pacific, which was approximately twenty years ago, hot towels were even handed out to economy passengers. Times have changed! The tickets are vastly cheaper, but so many corners have been cut!

Thanks for watching! I've heard that KA has cut hot towel since 2003, when SARS broke out in HK. After that, hot towel only appears in First Class. Moreover, you get what you paid for. Cheaper price of cos = less service. :(

MAS is indirectly retiring her fleet of A380s. Why, because the airline is only using the super jumbo for haj pilgrims. In the early days it even flew to HK but guess all A380s in the world are pretty on the retirement mode with the exception of Emirate.

I agree with your assessment ... I’d be very disappointed with the meal service! If I’m not mistaken, Dragon is Cathay’s “cheaper” subsidiary no? So, if that’s the case, perhaps that explains the cost cutting. 🧐. My favorite Asian Airlines are Singapore and Japan. Both First Class services are OUTSTANDING IMHO. 👍🏻

Haha, thanks for watching! Cathay Dragon is not Cathay's cheaper subsidiary, but just Dragon focuses on regional routes while Cathay focuses on International routes. For routes like Beijing and Shanghai, I believe Dragon may be doing better than Cathay. I wish to try JAL one day. Their service seems to be lovely!

Dragon air used to serve better inflight meal compare to CX, sadly this was in the past. The in flight catering sharing commonality with the parents company nowadays

I think it’s great that the IFE warns you that you may not be able to finish the chosen movie - very useful for short haul flights. I’m really curious about Cathay Dragon. I hope they uphold CX standards though.

They are not retiring the A380 and it is being used for haj as well as routes with high demands. A380 was used to HKG, BKK recently.
