Cathay is one of my favourite airlines Jayden.I had a flight for a first time for me in a brand new, back then, A340-300 from Zurich to Hong Kong and immediately loved them.Great service and very polite crew.Too bad that today they have so many problems.I hope that they will overcome the difficulties.Excellent video mate.

Very nice! Back in late 2019, living in Toronto, I was split on whether to try the Cathay A350-1000 to HK or the British Airways A350-1000 to London, since they recently launched such services to Toronto. In the end, I went with British Airways, and although I can see all the positive reputation that Cathay gets (especially in the east Asia region), I do think that BA wins on the food choices, the excellent wine, and most importantly, the people. Little things like the British way of conversations and humour, does make a lot of difference, as in how the flight and cabin crews communicated with the passengers. The best thing about my BA A350-1000 experience? The gate agent at Heathrow upgraded me to World Traveller Plus for free on my return flight to Toronto, which turned out to be my last international flight just as the pandemic hit. The food was absolutely spectacular. (My last time on Cathay was in 2015 on the 777, definitely a much duller cabin in comparison!)

You’re absolutely right about the BA people. BA is among my top 5 favourite for that very reason. Their intro EU flights might be average in terms of seats and soft products but the crew are amazing. Thanks for watching!!

I am a big fan of Cathay Pacific. Very nice service on board. Hungry Jayden! That was a big pile of food you shovelled in your mouth at the lounge! 2 meals on board and a 2nd entree of prosciutto! Very hungry. They definitely give good quantity of food on CX flights Very quiet flight. Always good to get spare seats next to you on an Economy flight.

7:58, Me too, but not salty food. I love Southeast Asian food, but this time, my favorite and best meal is Hainanese chicken rice, Malaysian and Singaporean chicken rice, beef with oyster sauce, roast duck, Baj Kut Teh with rice, Children and pork abodo and Barbeque and it's so delicious.

That final oceanic approach to Chek Lap Kok is so mesmerising. Flying into HKIA is always a treat. Could you explain how a flight going beyond HKG (like to LHR) be cheaper?

it’s all about supply and demand. Demand for direct/non stop (A to B) is always higher hence cheaper prices. Like SQ/MH from Australia to Hk are almost always cheaper than SQ to Singapore and MH to Kuala Lumpur. You’ll see more of those fares on longer trips.

Nice report. The economy class looks good but their business class has deteriorated by quite a lot. Had a HKG-SYD flight in J recently and the food and service wasn't much better than what you had in economy (I only got one bottle of water, FYI). I flew on the same itinerary in August 2021 and it was much better. I hope Cathay will improve as and when Hong Kong opens their border otherwise I see little reason to fly their business class for trips to Europe or North America from Australia.

Oh, Jayden, how sad to be going through your hometown airport and no opportunity to go home for a visit. Hope that changes soon for you. EDIT: I just heard a report that UN Health officials believe, based on data they are seeing, that the COVID pandemic is coming towards its end. If so perhaps we may see Hong Kong and mainland Chinese destinations opening up again to tourism.

Great vlog as usual. Unfortunately I probably won’t be flying too many of the airlines you report on, but I still love the presentations you give……I am looking forward to my flight to Thailand next year on Singapore Airlines, which you gave a pretty decent review. Hopefully I’ll be able to expand my airline experiences in the future, but because of audiology issues I can’t fly as much as I did when younger, on many airlines no longer in existence…….lol, like PanAm, Eastern, Continental (now United)…… But anyway, just one more comment on your Q&A, please don’t think I’m being creepy or anything…. Hi Jayden, your review made me feel better about my booking with Cathay Pacific, going to BKK next March in Business. I was hesitating with EVA so I hope I won't regret my choice as I hear a lot of negative comments about Cathay... Hopefully thing will improve even more till March. Also, a question: Do they have showers in the lounge? Will you be reviewing their Business class on your next flight? That chicken curry looked so appetizing that it made me super hungry. Hi Eric! I'm glad you're giving Cathay a try. I flew them last month in business to Kuala Lumpur and it was a great flight! You'd be able to use The Pier Business Class lounge during their transit in HK and there are plenty shower rooms available there. I have a video on that lounge soon. Watch out for my Malaysia Airlines video from HK-Kuala Lumpur, should be coming out next week. I'm covering the lounge in that video :) For the Cathay business class video, it'll take a while because I have a huge backlog at the moment!

That’s the Chinese mentality unfortunately. Well at least we moved from 21 days/banned to 3-day now haha. That being said, rumours are saying quarantine will end this year. I have my fingers crossed

You can also do it as Brisbane/Perth Hong Kong New York JFK although pre-covid you have done BNE/PER-HKG-EWR on CX. Some New York City flights actually use A350-1000 one of these is the nine p.m. arrival 846 which goes back to HKG as CX845 from Terminal 8

I guess I also do have a question. When you travel are you going simply to try different airlines and jets or are you going to the destination for a purpose?

It’s quite a huge problem that no one really talks about haha. Thanks so much for your comment! Usually it’s because of the destination. Like this time round I did Adelaide-Brisbane-HK-Kuala Lumpur. I could’ve done non stop Adelaide-KL but not only was it cheaper to do the long way with Cathay but also I get to do more videos :)
