I agree but don’t forgot many times it’s not taken as a joke and meant to be offensive and hurt somebody else. I hope this stays up forever because I love it and agree with you but then I’ve also had a black puppies thrown at me because my mum is black. If you walked down the street and did that to someone on the street I doubt it would be funny

It's sad that this is no longer permissible. This comedy is intended to make white people look dumb. She's pretending to speak several languages simply by making the sounds of their accents, she's incredibly dumb and that's where the comedy lies. If you're any of those nationalities laugh at her, don't take offence.

@@AfterWorkReactions Yes! I posted some 'nan' suggestions a while back.. If you remember, Micky Flanagan saying how when he was young, his nan took him to the pub to laugh at men in silly wigs.... It was as if he was describing "nan". Even his accent sounded like her!

I remember watching that episode. Every other sketch was that woman volunteering to stand in for missing colleagues and fucking things up. The translator scene was the climax.

Catherine Tate is great. She does so many characters, some loveable rogues, some you love to hate. Hey that rhymes! Yeah, her Nan is hilarious. And her schoolgirl character has become iconic. My fave, I have to say, is the lay-by burger van owner. It’s so innocent and lovely, subtle humour, amazingly nuanced.

Thank you for responding how I did when I first watched it. I'm so glad you took it for what it was (PARODY)as the BBC would make someone apologize now and try and dictate how we should feel about certain things. Your laugh is infectious. I watched it 4 or 5 times in a row when I first saw it. There used to be a show on the TV called Mind Your Language and it was 5 or 6 different foreign nationals trying to learn English. Very funny, I can't recommend a clip because I was too young.

When I first watched this sketch - as it was been shown on her t.v. programme - I recall laughing until I started slipping down, off of the settee onto the floor. For me personally; it still remains the funniest sketch that I have ever watched, from any t.v. programme. I was already crying with laughter by the time she got to the Chinese lady, but by the time she got to the African fella, I was already on the floor.
