That was my mother in law who had an acid tongue but the greatest heart when you broke through that defensive shell. Nan is the best of the characters Catherine plays imho, How she convincingly plays an older woman i have no idea she's great.

My nan on my dad's side once casually said "I went to to the paki shop" and everyone was like "uhhmm Nan you can't say that" followed by awkward laughter. Then my nan said all confused: why? It's just like calling the Scottish "Scotties". Facepalm. She also didn't mind threatening kids that littered with a walking stick. (She was a cockney, same as Micky Flanagan) Great reaction as always.
