My two cents worth: Trailers are built to a price point. Like you, I purchased the two trailer I've owned on a budget. I only spend 2-3 months a year in my trailers. I am a large old guy. My trailers have both been toy haulers...I always travel with a motorcycle or two. Like you, I have had minor problems that I address myself. I LOVE your current setup, with the truck as a short trip option. I thoroughly enjoy your content. Keep up the great work...and enjoy yourself.

I'm a DIY Truck Camper guy who also had a Lance but moved into a new Host Mammoth for more room and glamping comfort for myself and my 4 legged best friend. In my not so humble experience of owning, repairing, and improving these units, I will say you're lucky with only cosmetic issues! My Host had about 3 dozen issues that ran the gambit of safety, convivence, efficiency, and cosmetics. Since you're also handy and more importantly, knowing your limitation BUT willing to learn beyond them, tackling these repairs yourself will give you much more going forward than having someone do it for you. I wouldn't let the manufacture skate away free IF the problems involve parts... most will supply those directly to you under warranty. As far as a RV mattress... I use to like memory foam until I discovered they are like sleeping on a cold rock in the winter. I'll check out your endorsement! Safe travels!

I live stationary in a similar sized travel trailer(2022). I'm coming up on a year. Overall, it's been a pleasure. I've had several cosmetic issues that I've addressed, like trim and wallpaper. And one rather large issue, which was a water heater leak. The fittings and hoses were plastic, and I replaced them with larger metal hardware. Since replacing I haven't noticed anymore leaks so I'm satisfied. These trailers aren't built super well but I think part of the lifestyle is dealing with and being handy enough to fix those issues.

I owned a 1999 Lance 11.5’ truck camper and although it was older it was sturdy. Wood cabinets. Build on a solid frame and just a heavy solid camper. I loved it and throughly enjoyed it during the time I owned and full time traveled in it. Recently, I had the opportunity to walk through a lot of trailer/campers at an indoor rv show. I was shocked at how cheaply made they were but the price tags were over the top! Everything was plastic, the cushions were hard and very cheaply sewn together. I would never pay the kind of money they want for these new rigs as they are not worth it in my opinion. A good solid tiny home on a piece of land for a base now and a tent in my truck to travel from base is my new plan! All the best. Happy Spring! 10:32 I wanted to ad I love your videos of your sisters travel trailer rebuild! Can’t please everyone and sorry you lost subscribers but I sure enjoy watching g the build come together. I'm thinking there will be snow into April in the Rocky Mountain states, with a protracted runoff due to the snowpack. If we get extraordinary heat too quickly, some of the roads that follow drainages could become dangerous. As a fisherman, I'm resigned to camping/ fishing lakes for awhile this year. Every RV that I've bought has had some basic issues to resolve, not surprised even a new rig will have some maintenance and upgrade needs to keep it up to personal standards. Seeing Birdie loving the snow was so cute; my Brittany Milo used to enjoy extra deep snow that he would posthole his way through and rut in it with his nose. His coloring made him difficult to see in the snow. I always had to go out & call him to come in, and I'd set up his bed by the fireplace where he would lay down and dry off. His feet would collect little snowballs that he'd work on as he warmed. Sweet wet dog memories.☺

I have a Springdale 1750rd and here are some of my problems and fixes: Items on the counter can slide over and turn the sink faucet on. I added trim to prevent this. The refrigerator latch broke. I added a flip latch to hold it shut. Items under the bathroom sink can break the cheap sink drain. When the sun heats up the side, the door is hard to open - no solution yet. Previously, I had a 29 ft trailer and it was a monster to get gas or to park, and pulling that much weight wore out my RAM 1500 at 36,010 miles -- expired warranty.

Any issues you are having with the trailer are totally mitigated with your winter pictures with the snow and your cozy little home. It is perfect. With regard to your repairs while annoying they are minor and you are making a generic mass produced product your home with every improvement that you make. My own experiences taught me every rig has repair issues so I loved watching this video. I have a DIY GMC Safari Van, which is perfect for the traveling I like, but its a small space. I recently bought a travel trailer toy hauler for more space and for my electric bikes and my Harley motorcycle. My 2 sons, who helped me build-out my Van for off-grid & off-road living, decided they too wanted to travel now, so one son "borrowed" the trailer for himself, and my other son now caravans full-time with me, riding on the Harley, and then jumps into the Van when we boondock overnight or in a tent when we camp. I still haven't solved getting more space but VanLife is very fluid, ever changing, ever evolving. I envy watching you have more space with that floor plan. The sitting area in the back with panoramic windows on 3 sides is the BOMB !!! I also love that you have plenty of space inside when its raining or snowing, which hits home for me because I'm always chasing the sun and warm climate since I don't have extra space. My rig is more for travel verses living in and thats the part I am starting to envy. I love having a smaller rig and not towing anything so I can move around easier and quicker, and be able to do so without much or any previous planning, but I'm starting to want more space so I can enjoy wherever I'm at when the weather turns to rain or snow, like you do in this video.

We bought a 26ft, 2016 Airstream brand new. The very same thing happened with the brackets under our dinette when converting to a bed using the table pieces. Loved seeing what you've done. Again we've got the same trailer 2022 and we unfortunately had some major issues. Since the dealer would only let us bring it in for up to three issues and we were close to end of warranty we did the ones we could ourselves. We had them fix a water leak in our shower hot water side, re-attach an outlet cover that the interior tab was broken and saw off excess on the bar of the solid step that kept us from closing it up if we needed to use the very bottom pin. We added a propane tank and extra battery, a Soft Start on the AC, extra usb and 12v plugs in the dining area, fixed a bad propane leak on the stove, changed out the China Bombs to Goodyear and immediately gave away that horrible mattress. I don't know how you did that for 8 months. You poor thing. Anyway thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos.

Always love watching your videos. I agree with the quality issues in the lower priced trailers. I just bought a 2022 and im shocked at how many little things keep coming loose. Anyway keep being your beautiful self.

I saw videos of issues with keystone trailers when I was looking to buy one. The main issue I've seen is that the tongue is made of steel with inadequate thickness/strength to reduce weight. Hopefully, this problem was dealt with before your home was manufactured. Every time you pull it, you should check around the welds where the tongue meets the frame and inspect for cracking or bending. I don't mean this to be mean in any way, only trying to help. Any welder could easily reinforce the tongue and make it safe. Glad to have found your channel, great attitude thanks for sharing.

I just bought an older travel trailer and know repairs are a part of it. I'm looking forward to mods because I'm not afraid to. I too am going for black out curtains. I will be watching your videos

You could get matching real wood doors for the cabinets then finish them with matching stain. Replace the whole cabinet with a better quality finished cabinet. Thanks for the mattress tip.

I feel your pain on the trailer. I had a 1999 24J Prowler and not one issue. I purchased a new 100K toy-hauler and nothing but problems. Water leaks, drain values leaking, hot water wouldn't ignite, etc ... I don't care what brand you buy you'll have problems until you fix them... Bring your trailer by and we'll put a twin propane bottle holder on...

saw the comment below about using oak plywood for your new tabletop. Birch is also a good choice. It's available pre-sanded, though you would want to touch it up a bit. I would suggest skipping the big box home center in favor of a true lumber yard. They will have a greater selection, often better quality products and advice. Take your current table with you and they will likely cut the new piece for you. It's a shame that so much of our manufacturing is producing inferior products. I kinda think that we, as a culture, have gotten what we asked for - price trumps quality. Good luck with your repairs. I hope you share some along the way. Good wishes!

No worries. Camper quality is poor for most brands but it's a hobby for me in the winter of Colorado. I found staples connecting seats, water tank not tied down. I replaced bed with plywood and full size mattress. I use ground solar and getting a generator for birthday gift. Next year upgrade to 200 A Lithium. Both my daughter's are very diy capable with all tools. Good for you to learn. Your right to upgrade yourself. I diy a solar generator with 100 A lithium for night use inside camper and at home. Lots of fun in retirement. My 21' Gulfstream is single axle 3K weight. Do you have a brake controller in truck? Easy to install.
