Hi Catherine, I made your Sloppy Joes this evening and they came out fantastic. I had to laugh because my husband said, no more Sloppy Joes out of a can. Honestly, simple but very delicious.

That handy-dandy tool that you used to scoop up your diced pepper & onion is called a *bench scraper*. When I was a baker for Panera Bread, a bench scraper was used constantly to “scrape” raw dough from the butcher block “bench” table & to make slits in a lot of the pastries. I LOVE using one in my own kitchen!😊

I usually use Manwich Original with lean ground beef and doctor it up with chopped green pepper, onion, and diced fresh garlic cloves (about 3 medium cloves). My husband and I are not fans of ketchup and I don't like mustard of any kind. Sometimes I will use a McCormicks Sloppy Joe mix packet (this is very rare because of the sodium content of those mixes). I don't toast my buns. We love tater tots!!!!

I used to make sloppy joes with just hamburger relish onion ketchup and mustard. Was so tasty we ate that at least once a week. My husband taught me that recipe when we first got married.

I haven't had a sloppy joe in a long long time. I grew up having fresh garden veggies. My parents had a garden and a concord grape vine which Momma canned some jam and jelly and other family members had gardens and fruit trees, my brother had a black walnut tree so we ate good. Fresh is better than store bought anyday.

I like to add celery to my sloppy joes. For some reason I thought everybody did that. Then I had one at someone's house and it just tasted like something was missing... That was it. (I put it in late so it's still got just a tiny bit of crunch to it, yum. Sometimes the onion too, and I chop them both a little larger so you know when you're biting into them.)

I love grilled buns for sloppy joes and burgers and most everything! I never butter the bun or bread though, I use a stick of butter on the hot griddle or skillet and rub it in circles for each piece of bun or bread(grilled cheese, yum) put the bun down and turn it a time or two and grill to the perfect golden brown! It’s lots easier to control the amount of butter used that way! Love your recipes! Made Taco Mac and cheese the other day and my family didn’t leave any leftovers! To clarify, I turn the bun in circles on the hot surface, not turn it over(unless I want to for a grilled sandwich) Adding, I bet those sloppy joes would be delicious to stuff a baked potato with. Now I don’t know which to do first! DECISIONS 😱
