When I first found Reneé I felt jealous, because she is so beautiful and smart and virtuous, etc. She grew up in a great Catholic family, taught the truth since the beginning and then there's me who grew up in a more liberal environment and have made seriously terrible choices in my life that I think will affect me for the rest of my life. I felt bad, she's everything I wish I could be but thank God because he has removed that envy from my heart, and now I just look at Reneé and wish she was my best friend! She's so funny and wise!

Never cover up your true feelings. Never change what you truly feel. Be true to yourself. It is unhealthy to cover your true feelings. Your emotions will get the better of you. If you like a person a certain way, that's who you are. If the other person does not agree with you, then there no place to go with the situation. I liked some wonderful women in my past, but they didn't agree with my beliefs. That's it, there was no glue holding me together with each of them. But, I did not change my belief system for them. If U truly fell in love with a partner, the both of us then must meet each other half way. It's called a relationship.

My brother and a friend of mine both married Catholic girls. Both girls are complete whackjobs. Paranoia and insecurity like I've never seen before. What does Catholicism do to women?
@168vfk

@@wiseowl282 i agree mostly, except for the part where you said “if you like a person a certain way, that’s who you are”. I’d say that’s not true. You are not your attractions. So yes, while you should not be false, you also have the power to control whom you like and how you like him. How you like someone does not define who you are, because you as a being are above and more important than how or whom you like.

Dating in Highschool: extended advice: Going on little dates and things is super fun and I don't regret seeing the movies, getting the ice cream, and going to watch fireworks with a guy i thought was cute. The thing to realize is that (please no offense) guys in high school need to be given very clear boundaries from the beginning so they don't have physically progressive expectations date after date. Just be very clear. Know that if the guy isn't holding to the agreement/starts making you uncomfortable, you need to realize your worth over having a cute guy to do things with and walk away. You will not regret it. Instead you will be thanking your younger self down the line and in some cases thanking God He protected you from something potentially terrible.

Anakin Skywalker It's not so much not letting it lead to anything, it's making sure you have an established line that neither of you cross until such a time as it is appropriate (the time for most things being in marriage). It's to keep both people from getting into things too quickly when they are clearly not ready.
@RebornPureAdmin

To be more blunt: I am saying to make sure the guy knows you do not want to have sex and do not want to be used so he can gain his high school "experiences" since he thinks you're cute. In this life, which you live just once, find somebody that loves you (wonderful you) and loves Spending Time with you in day to day activities. Be looking for the equivalent of a best friend, and go on high school appropriate dates with them. You can have fun! Yes you can kiss the guy you like - I'm not being mother superior. People Have ended up finding their spouses in high school (yay for them!) but a lot More people have bad experiences in high school with regret. 14 and 15 year old girls should not be under pressure to do things for the "love" of a cute boy.

By the way, I should add the same for the Bible - the Crusades were not a result of Jesus saying to go around waging a supposedly holy war to reclaim holy lands - No ! That was propagated by hypocrisy- for instance, the pope himself said in his letter to the people that they were guaranteed to go to heaven if they did this - something like that - so don't blame Jesus either for the sins of the people - but instead maybe ask Jesus to reveal his character and His will for u - if we only we did what God wants us to do and not the other way around...

I am a Reformed Southern Baptist who is among New Catholic Generation's subscribers. (My outdated composition style is strange for a fellow millennial, I know.) You lot's videos are always respectful and well done! Grandfather Carpenter's mother was descended from Irish Roman Catholics that left their home country during the infamous potato famine. The oldest son married a Methodist. I wish that had ended on a high note. What the young men at Franciscan University, undergraduate and graduate alike, will say about the male perspective shall be interesting. I am physically disabled myself, hoping the Lord might let me remain single. God bless, New Catholic Generation!

On mixed marriages, or a marriage between a Catholic Christian and a non-Catholic Christian: (1)Tatiana's advice is pretty solid. So much so, that a Catholic must get permission from the their bishop to marry a non-Catholic Christian before it happens.The bishop is tasked with making sure that the faith of the Catholic is not in danger before he is allowed to give permission. This is where the Catholic party must make the promises to raise their child Catholic. (2) Because Canon Law only applies to Catholics, the person who is not Catholic does not make promises to raise their children Catholic. They are simply made aware (cautiones) of the promises.

@Renée Your answer to question: "What is love" just opened my eyes :) You've basically said what I've been hearing all over, that first I have to love myself, and than I can give love to anybody else. I've allways found this to be logical, but too selfish and certainly uncatholic. But your answer puts everything in the right place . Thank you very much.

Lovely work, ladies. Perhaps the only point I might add is that dating has a 99% failure rate...by design. Every single one of your dating relationships will fail...except one. That's not a bug...that's how it works. Discernment means just that...discerning. And much more often than not, one or the other discerns "nope, you're not it". Once you understand this, it makes the process more enjoyable (and endurable) for all concerned.

Well, if the purpose and end of dating is to find someone to marry...then, yes...it failed in that sense. Or maybe...to follow your argument...it actually didn't fail. It served it's purpose to assist with discernment. I'll give you that.

Here's some advice for Catholic girls (coming from a Catholic teen duuuude) - This is probably the best advice you will get (no clickbait/lookbait). You definitely want to find a guy who is going to treat you like you're more than an object, but that's not all. You're not dating to find a nice boy, you're dating to find a nice man. Someone who is mature, knows how to dress, and knows how to act in public and isn't a weirdo. (Trust me, these guys are rare, like Tridentine-Mass rare) But... there's still your part, if you want a Catholic man of your dreams, you have to make yourself into the Catholic girl of THEIR dreams. DEFIANTLY be modest, but DEFIANTLY do NOT be a frump, no mature guy wants to date a frump, and no matter how devout they are in their Catholicism, will date an agnostic pretty girl before dating an equally devout frump. When it comes to beauty, know that no matter how you look, you are INFINITELY valuable. What also matters about how you look, is that you always have control over yourself, and your appearance. If you're overweight, no problem! You can lose weight, you can get rid of pimples (overtime) you can experiment with your hair and find what makes you look like a nice young lady a guy would want to think about marrying. You can do all of this because YOU ARE STRONG, and you have a will to be able to do what's necessary. And finally, don't forget to try and stay in a state of grace, if you fall into mortal sin, go to confession when you find the opportunity to, and don't commit a sacrilege, sacrilege iz baad :/ Oh, also pray the rosary for your intentions every day.

The reason it was in there was because the air conditioner was going in the studio the day we filmed and left an annoying rumble in the background, and noise reduction left a residual echo. Putting in music covered it up and I personally enjoyed the piano track. I am always open taking feedback on the editing, though, so thanks for the comment (for example, based on previous comments about the orange bar wipe transition, I've switched it out for something else as of this video).

Hi! I think with 'dating' you mean: 'courting'. Dating is different than courting. Courting is 'dating with a purpose'. When you date someone, you just 'like' the person, but you are not especcially looking for the right person to marry. When you court, you date someone, not because you just 'like' the person, but because you want to know if this is the person you want to marry. When you are courting, God is in the center. Just like you said in this video. I think you have to call it: 'courting', because nowadays, 'dating' is something different. As christian catholics, we have to court, I think ;)
@Kat22Kit
@Kat22Kit 7 жыл бұрын
Then wouldn't that just be an engagement? Dating is "liking" that person becoming more serious over time etc then an engagement comes the commitment that you're going to marry. And yes maybe you even then could decide to end your relationship. I just never understood how courting is this whole separate process with how people talk about it.
@sophialouiza
@sophialouiza 7 жыл бұрын
Spoonie Beauty With courting you set boundaries with the person that you like, for example: fisical boundaries. You are going to know that person better. His/her personality. That's the goal. You are not going to focus on the fisical things, like many people this days do with dating. With courting, you look for the one. If you are engaged, you are going to plan the wedding :)

Sophie Clemens I've seen a lot of debates about this between christians. I personally choose to use the word "dating" because I find that the word "courting" is confusing and for me it looks too close with a "Duggar-style of relationship". For me it is easier to use the word "dating" and then maybe explain what I'm looking for in a relationship and what are my boundaries

I think when catholic couples say dating, we mean courting. Because we definitely set boundaries. The definition and use of words can be different at times.

I never had anyone explain to me as a male? What to say or comport with a female that attracted me? As a male, it was just a “wow!!!”, “I got to ask her or get to know her!!!”. Yes it was a pure, way of Visual, I like what I see!!! Part of the time. Other times it was, wow I really think she is a cool and easy to get along women. Or “Man, she is a really smart women”. For me that was my way of finding a women that I would want to date and get to know. During my starting to date at age 14 to 16 or so? Then last 2 yrs of HS. It was more of. I know she is beautiful or smart, but, did she date one of my friends? Someone I knew? Or she date someone that one of my friends knew better that I did? Why? Cause I don’t want to be surprised or told after I started to date her. It brings doubt and can make you get jealous. Men mostly want to be her first date and every thing else. Today their still isn’t a Manuel for Catholic singles. I wish I did do more praying for the right person to be my spouse. However, I today can say, that my wife and I, did things like most people in the modern day. Not the right way. We dated 3 and half months. She moved in with me. I had a house that I had bought 5 months before I meant her. We had a good time for about 1 year and half. Then I got really, down on myself and felt very guilty. I could no longer go to communion. And I was tough for a year and half. It just kicked in so heavy!!! I just felt very ashamed!!! We did break up for about 9months. She dated other men, and I did too. She knew I moved on, and I went to my old ways. No one lives with me I am not in co habitation sin. I could confess my sexual in counters and receive communion. She call me. And we would talk like nothing had happened. We again started dating, fell again into co habitation. From 1999 to 2011 we lived. She got her annulment. And I stopped having sexual encounters. Plus she put up with 3yrs of me going through depression!!! But we didn’t give up Sunday mass. We always went, we might miss here and their. But not gone for 3 or 10yrs at a time. We have been together 20yrs now!!! God helped us, so very much. And we are still learning!!! It is not fun going through all we did. It is better to do things Gods way!!!! Plus these lady’s are so much better what must be done than how my wife and I did it. Pls follow their good ways of how to do it!!! You won’t have to go a very hard way of life!!! God bless, and thanks!!! I will try to pass on this wonderful way to do the dating in a good healthy Catholic way!!!

Just a tip from a film editing perspective: I'd recommend replacing the "flash" transition that you're using with nothing, just splicing the clips together as you go. The transition is a bit jarring once you notice it and takes away from the video. :)

Sparrow Opal, well you are right, it's fictional but how fake is it really? i mean, i know that the real pope doesn't smoke or act's like the pope in the series but the stories in the series have something of reality to it. Like for example the sex scandals and the corruption with in the church or the priests or very important people with in the church in some countries. so people that are not Catholic will see the series and say, "yep that's what really happends". you get my point? I'm a Catholic and i love my church but when i see the series i can't deny that some of it is not fiction but true.

Thank you. I appreciate that. I'm going to try to attend the meeting to get a feel for how Life Teen will be implemented between my parish and another one nearby. I have a feeling this is a very structured program, but I may be wrong. I was hoping to discuss virtue ethics with the teens that show up, since that is by all accounts an entirely neglected kind of moral thinking in our culture. I may be in touch!

I still think dating is for marriage Though thats hard for me as a 15 year old girl who always has the temptation to date( though because im so shy i dont know if its possible). Please pray for me. I know that that sounds judgy and i still love people who date without the intention of marriage. But i think sadly ill have to tacke the road where i can wait till im the age to marry and date. Also i think i might be called to be a nun.soo... Yea. I kinda hate that though. But i k ow that doesnt necisarilyrily mean that if you break up with the person you were dating and planing on marrying, means your not called to marriage. It doesnt mean that at all.. But i do think we should date to marry. Also please pray for my discerment. I really want to get married but i feel so strong towards the convent. Though feelings are often fatal. These arnet bad feelings but i cant act on them.

Slight mistake, but frequently I have heard this error as it is due to a changed discipline: The non-Catholic spouse NO LONGER HAS TO PROMISE to raise the children Catholic. It has changed to the Catholic spouse has to promise to raise the children Catholic to the best of their ability. The change of emphasis has pros and cons. Pros: there were instances where the non-Catholic would promise but once children actually arrived went back on the promise. They may or may not have intended to "change their minds" but it created great disharmony, and it is hard to prove grounds for annulment (where they lying when they made that promise?). So the emphasis changed onto the Catholic spouse. Cons: the Catholic spouse may still have to battle the same scenario from above except that they made the promise to raise the child Catholic so the responsibility and onus for the salvation of that child's soul rests solely on the Catholic parent's shoulders which is a heavy weight to bear. If the child is confused and leaves the faith or the other parent interferes constantly, the heartache at knowing that you are responsible and cannot impart the faith is a constant dis-harmonizer for the marriage as well. Also it gives no incentive for the non-Catholic party to study the faith in order to dispel myths and misunderstandings about what we actually believe, and gives less of an opportunity to contemplate their own position and consider converting. For reference: The USCCB notes: This provision of the 1983 Code of Canon Law - with its wording to try one’s best - is a change from the 1917 version, which required an absolute promise to have the children raised Catholic. Likewise, the non-Catholic spouse is no longer required to promise to raise the children in the Catholic faith, but “to be informed at an appropriate time of these promises which the Catholic party has to make, so that it is clear that the other party is truly aware of the promise and obligation of the Catholic party,” the code states. Should Catholics date liberal (atheist). Is it possible? Any experience with this?
@NewCatholicGeneration
@NewCatholicGeneration 7 жыл бұрын
It's not technically prohibited, but there are a few things to be aware of. If you get married in the Church, the Catholic spouse has to promise to raise the kids Catholic and the atheist spouse has to be okay with this. On a personal level, as a Catholic entering marriage, your ultimate goal should be to do your best to you can to help your spouse get to heaven. Depending on the liberal atheist, there is a high chance of a lot of clashing of values on this. If you and your spouse have a fundamentally different view on the purpose of life and existence, that could result in a lot of conflict on major life decisions. So to answer your question, it is possible, but not recommended.

I will tell you that my Prospect of finding a Protestant is much better because I live somewhere that has not a lot of Catholics

The kind of leadership and confidence a man needs to be a good husband and father is diametrically opposed to the kind of meekness and humility demanded by God. Christian ladies, if you want a real man to be your husband you are going to have to marry a non-believer, someone not bound by humility.

Not worth it. No contraception is perfect, and so there's a great chance of getting pregnant... and heck no, people who are not stably married are not ready to have babies, so it's a terrible idea to have sex. That's an argument without the moral aspect, which, as a Catholic, means that I don't have sex before marriage because sex is holy and should be performed only in the holy sacrament of marriage.

Courting is different from dating (watch Sensus Fidelium's videos on the topic). Courting is proper. Dating is not. ...and mixed marriages (i.e. between Catholics and non-Catholics) are to be condemned.
@kaylajay741
@kaylajay741 7 жыл бұрын
Michael Rex Marriages between Catholics and non-Catholic Christians are considered valid. Marriages between Catholics and non-Christians can be considered valid if and only if they are granted dispensation from a bishop and will raise their children Catholic, have no threat of the Catholic losing faith, and have both parties know the significance of a Catholic marriage. With that case, the marriage is a valid, natural marriage, but not a sacramental one. In other words, relationships with non-Catholics should be approached with much caution, but shouldn't be prohibited or necessarily condemned.
@michaelrex6948

A Catholic half-Spanish and half-Flemish Jesuit preacher was teaching a class on St. Jerome, known fraudulent bible translator. "Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship the Pope and accept that he is the representative of Jesus on earth, and his word is above even the Bible!" At this moment a brave, Calvinist, Reformed Protestant Dutchman who had studied the original Hebrew and Greek bible for 12 years and understood the necessity of reforming the corrupt and decadent Catholic church stood up and held up a copy of the Latin Vulgate. 'What is it I am holding here?" The arrogant Catholic smirked quite proudly, displaying one of the seven deadly sins: hubris, and replied: "It's a copy of the 4th century and one true Latin translation of the bible, you filthy heretic." 'Wrong. Erasmus has already subjected the Vulgate to scholarly scrutiny and has revealed it to be full of glaring translation errors. As such, the Catholic doctrine is based on a lie and the Pope has no authority on matters of the faith. Especially when it comes to the nature of salvation." The preacher was visibly shaken and dropped his copy of the Roman Catechism. He stormed out of the room chanting those Latin blasphemies. The other students applauded and all converted to Calvinism that day and accepted the revised Geneva Bible as the one true source of God's message. An eagle named 'Predestination' flew into the room and perched atop the Dutch flag and shed a tear on the chalk board. Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion was read several times, and William of Orange himself showed up and fought the Catholic Spanish oppressors for 80 years until they were finally driven out. The Jesuit preacher's Church was raided and all idolatrous ornaments and artworks were smashed. He was forced to recant his Catholic blasphemy but nevertheless ended up in the flames of Hell because God almighty and omnipotent had already decided for him to burn for all eternity long before he was born.

Ok, this is strange... it could be read as an attack on Catholicism, using a ton of straw-man arguments; or it's an argument against Calvinism with the punch line where predestination dictates that the convert still burns in Hell , using an argumentum ad absurdum.... Not sure which you're going for here...
