Indeed, a retro moment for me. Innocence of childhood Lententides flow through my memories.

All of these wonderful Catholic hymns show that there is a way to worship that does not have to descend to the dross by which we are now afflicted

I couldn't agree with you more , and the Anglican church is similarly afflicted with mindless dross .

@@jimshepard7099 , some modern hymns are wonderful, faith affirming, and doctrinally truthful. I the Lord of sea and Sky, by Dan Chutte I am the Bread of Life by Bernadette Farrell. Jesus said he comes ‘ not to crush the broken reed, or quench the wavering flame.’ So , Don’t dismiss modern hymns as rubbish. Or dross. Some are uninspiring, but they may appeal to people on the margins, who have been brought up in that genre. Lord Jesus Christ , Son of the living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

i stumbled on this song by accident.i had never heard of it before but it is beautiful. the only passiontide song that is better is o sacred head surrounded and that does not have a refrain in which everyone can participate..to have the two sung at one mass would be almost too much for the ears to bear,so beautiful are they.
