I know it is true that because God wants all to be saved we must pray for all to be saved. It is then in God’s hands for his mercy and love are infinite. Pray therefore with all of our strength for the all the living and also all of the dead to be saved.

The better question is how many will not be saved? Pray for everyone that they return to sanity and repent.

The bible says 'few' will be saved but 'many' will not. Hope is a virtue we should hold on to. We need to try harder, all of us. Me included. My non catholic husband of 35 years was a cultural Jew, with high moral standards. But this teaching is breaking my heart

@riohenry6382 It also says John 14:2 reads, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” It doesn't say a few.

There are three problems in the reaction to what the bishop is saying. 1. It is a mystery. The mystery is that it is hidden and will remain as such until the Judgement Day. 2. Judgement. All judgement in temporal ways and especially in eternal ways belongs to Jesus Christ the Judge of the living and dead and not us. 3. Do I hope all will be saved? Meh. I hope I'm saved.
