OMG that was amazing and eye opening shocking actually. I lov d how he explained that getting involved with politics in the USA is how we can help the struggle. Thank you for your podcast I have only recently found it and I have learned so much. Thank you

Great interview. I imagine the unionists fuming in the replies aren't angry when an SAS man or RUC man gives his version of history. The nationalists perspective is valid just like yours...

Fascinating listen so far. To me, it seems like it was never a Catholic v Protestant thing - more Loyalists/Unionst v Irish people in the North. The whole Catholic v Protestant thing as some people interviewed on this channel make it out to be seems like they are (or are not) trying to muddy the whole narrative on the conflict as a whole. Can't wait to see Colin Wallace's interview on here. Good work, John & Father McManus.

I can remember as a 5 year old boy at home on Saturday with only my mother everyone else being older were out and my da was working it was in June 1972. Our living room window was smashed in by some man with a union jack on a pole there were 50 others there doing the same to other houses, then he smashed into the room all the jagged bits of glass around the edges of the frame, I found out later they were coming home from a Paisley march . It set me early well on the way to becoming an unapologetic and bitter fenian bastard who as a fit strong teenage and early 20 something kicked the shite out of many a prod lad who took a wrong turn , but I was never happier than watching RUC funerals .

An anti-British priest who spent his training in the UK. It reminds me of top IRA man, Bobby Storey, who was violently opposed to to British rule in Northern Ireland , yet when he became critically ill, he decided to go to England for a double lung transplant which didn't work out and he died during the operation. Two hypocrites of the highest order.
