Listening to this conversation has blessed me beyond words. We are not meant to walk this road alone, and the Lord brought such a consolation to my heart to discover someone who has gone through the same things as me. It is hard, it is personal, and in my experience keeping my eyes on Jesus is the only way to take one step at a time with peace and trust.

I wish I had that kind of freedom to not be sad about singleness. It's super difficult for me. I'm constantly stressing out about not having a girlfriend. I pray the liturgy of the hours, but I need to make more time for eucharistic adoration.

What an awesome story. I never knew that some convents for nuns it takes 7-9 years or so before making final vows... while for marriage... it's as soon as you consumate the marriage... wow.

I’m glad she finally made up her mind. I feel bad for the Order. They put so much resources into her and now she “ discerned out “. Seems selfish 😢

I would hope that seminary and convent dropouts are obligated to pay back what was invested in them.

Selfish or prudent? Why should she have stayed with the order if God told her it wasn’t a good fit? Staying would have been a negative on both ends in that situation.

Should a woman have to pay back a man for all the time and resources he put into her (I.e. paying for dinners, buying gifts, buying flowers, his time, etc.) during their discernment if it doesn’t work out and they don’t get married? You have to keep in mind discerning religious life, is a discernment process. You aren’t locked in to being a nun the moment you walk into the convent to discern. Just like someone isn’t locked into a marriage by just going on dates or being in a relationship with someone. People are allowed to discern out when discerning vocations.

She knows long before he does all of that. Some folks just string others along for perks. Use the good sense God gave you and move on.
