This Gospel teaches us humbleness. We must live our lives not begrudging what God gives others. We must put our knees on the ground and thank Him for what He’s given us, which is not little, by the way. 🙏🙏🙏

I am very appreciative for this upload. Understanding God's justice and how often it does not make sense to us is humbling and necessary. We want His Mercy when it is for us or our loved ones but often want it carefully measured when given to strangers. I recognize my own hypocrisy and that's also very important. Thank you so much!

This parable is the confirmation of prophet Muhammad pbuh. So yeah let's explain ? Full parable : 33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: 34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. 39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. 40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. - Matthew 21:33-46 (King James Version). The commentry : To understand it better u have to see it as follows, the landowner as a metaphor for God, the vineyard as a metaphor for God's Law, the wall around it refers to that which God prohibited in the Law, the wine-press is a metaphor for the pleasures that are permitted in the Law. The husbandmen who rented the vineyard refers to the Jews. The servants who were sent repeatedly to the tenants to collect the fruits are God's prophets. The son of the landowner is a metaphor for Jesus, who is considered by Muslims to be one of the highly esteemed prophets. The stone the builders rejected is seen as a metaphor for Muhammad. And the quote here "Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed" clearly fits the description of Muhammad who triumphed during his life-time over all his enemies and against all odds. The verse, ''Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof" So it is clear the kingdom of God will now be taken from Jews and given to a new nation altogether. And that nation was Islam. They didn't kill their prophet rather they accepted him and hence did bring forth the fruits. Hence prophecy of Jesus was fulfilled. Concerning the following verse, "But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet". U will be astonished to find out they Jews were waiting for prophet muhammad pbuh in city of medina to do away with him like they had done with all servants before, that is to kill him. But here they failed and were defeated rather he was already taken prophet by multitude of people and hence he triumphed. And hence these wicked tenants were defeated finally and Gods promise came true. And the following verse, "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?" Well there is a narration from prophet Muhammad pbuh himself that corroborates this, Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "My similitude in comparison with the other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the Seal of the Prophets." - Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Virtues and Merits of the Prophet and his Companions, Chapter: The Seal of all the Prophets, Hadith number: 44

Dr.Pitre this is my favourite parable the twist as you call it blows my mind! That's how the Kingdom of God is! But my takeaway from this parable is also this- You serve and work for the Kingdom all your life taking the narrow path and you get your reward. And then there are others who come to serve in the end and they are equally rewarded. What I particularly notice is that the last lot were waiting all day . I think that's important. It the preparedness and when you are like that you are hired and your reward is just the same. Those who seek will find. May be you are seeking all your life and then you meet the master in the last hour you then do what you asked to and you are in the kingdom just like the others who you know God and did his will. On a material plane it's don't compare. You must see if you got what you worked for. Your joy is lost when you compare with others.

I've always seen it like this myself. Maybe also a reference to the impending welcome of the Gentiles into the Kingdom of God? At any rate, it is definitely a warning about being envious about God's gifts to people, that can come at any time in life.

So I am that brick, and I am the Seal of the Prophets." - Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Virtues and Merits of the Prophet and his Companions, Chapter: The Seal of all the Prophets, Hadith number: 44

Yes being envious is hard to resist, it happens to me sometimes. I cannot avoid to compare myself esp when I see the other person's more blessed than I do. It was a wrong thinking I know, but now I understand...how God's decision is different than ours. Thank you Dr. Pitre for these teaching...God bless you!

And the following verse, "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?" @@Summer_Harvest see I posted a commentry of the parable. If u read it once again, u will see a lot of benefit in it. As far as Jesus as the son of God. There wasnt a clear conscience about what son meant here. It wasnt untill nicene creed was formulated in 4th censtury that trinitarian belief was held to be true. Untill that time, there was a constant battles between unitarians and trinitatians about which creed is right. Then they abolished and killed all the unitarians and adopted the trinatarian creed.
@Summer_Harvest3 жыл бұрын
Muhammad wasn't there or the koran. Those came much later. Council of Nicea was in the 4th Century and Muhammad showed up in 6th Century. If you want to start claiming Catholics didn't know what they believed from the time of Christ you are tearing down your own argument.
@drmujeebhamid35603 жыл бұрын
@@Summer_Harvest u r still not getting the point. Untill 4th century, some christains believed in unitarianism and some belived in trinatarianism. So basically some belived Jesus pbuh wasn't God and some belived he was. It wasnt untill nicene creed was enacted that trinitarian doctrine was established as the only one doctrine. And unitarians were then prosecuted and completely destroyed in 5th century. And in 6th century Muhammad pbuh was born. But again my point isn't talking about what christains belive and what Muslims do. I posted here the commentry of this beautiful parable and how it is actually predicting prophet pbuh. If u again read with a clear mind and with honesty, u will find a lot of benefit in it.

Even though I know it's true it's a huge temptation for me personally it's so hard to not get upset. It's hard to have time to take a minute for prayer sometimes because of the work I do people always need me. I still pray and go to adoration but I guess if you'd pray for me too.

This parable is about the grace of God, which Jesus earned for us when He died for our sins and was raised from the dead. The denarius is God's grace. God is generous and gives the complete forgiveness of sins to everybody who believes in Jesus. No matter how long or short a person works for God in this life, the same forgiveness of sins is given by grace through faith. For example, God asked the prophet Ezekiel to do some very difficult things in service to Him. The same is true of the apostle Paul, who went on long journeys, teaching people to believe in Jesus. Paul was often persecuted when he was on those journeys. And yet both Ezekiel and Paul received the same reward as the thief on the cross, who only spoke up for Jesus once right at the end of his life. The thief on the cross believed in Jesus. He showed faith in Jesus by acknowledging his own guilt, by defending Jesus' innocence, and finally by praying to Him for salvation. He showed faith as he was being executed for the sin he had committed. So, there's a huge difference in how much the thief served the Lord by comparison with Ezekiel or Paul. So, you'd think that God would give them different rewards. But He didn't. They were all taken to heaven when they died, and they will all be declared innocent on the Last Day. To say that this parable is about how God gives different abilities to people in this life is a typically Roman Catholic teaching. It was rich in historical details, but there was nothing about grace and faith. Jesus' death and resurrection weren't even mentioned. Based on this message, the only kingdom I'd be thinking about is the one in this life. Luke 23:40-43 -- But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

@UCmPvFlo1q9N16H1mTnVe3ag See these arguments u point, there are so many discussions about them. And yes Islam differs in lot of them bcz Islam is truthful and christainity wasnt even a religion, Christ was a prophet of Jews and Jews betrayed him. Christainity came as a response to that betrayal and obviously it assumed lot of things which were just falsely written by scribes many years after death of Jesus. But I ain't here to argue about how Islam differs from christainity. But i have just posted an honest commentry of this beautiful parable. And if by God's grace , u r also truthful, u will see a lot of sense the commentry I made.

Merry Christmas. I would have to ask, why do you skip over the Christians and the Church (the New Israel) as if this prophecy relates to Islam around 700 years after Jesus’s passion?

@@killianmiller6107 First of all christainity wasnt a new nation. It was simply when Jesus pbuh was allegedly crucified, some of the people from sons of Israel rejoiced and were called Jews thereafter and some lamented the episode and were called christains. So basically they both were a same nation (sons of Israel or if u call it Jews from the first place itself). But here it clearly mentions about a new nation. And christains weren't not a new nation they were actually good Jews, sons of israel who accepted Jesus pbuh or u can say they were Syrians the same nation to which Israeli Jews also belonged to. But here is a talk about another nation altogether. And it perfectly fits on Muhammed pbuh who was Arab, the neighbouring country of Syria and also the son of Ishmael who was the progenitor of 2nd branch which arises from prophet Abraham pbuh. Now ur question why it had to arise so late, 7 centuries after Jesus. Well answer is there aint the need of new prophet if the religion is already doing good. There were 2 belief systems in christains, Unitarian (arianism) and trinatarian. And some christains were unitarian while others trinatarian. And Muslims consider Unitarian to be the true one. But in 325 ad, nicene creed was enacted and trinatarian creed was adopted in the counsel of Constantine 1 ( who himself actually died as Unitarian bcz he was baptised just before death by Arian). And once trinatarian creed was accepted, they started torturing the unitarians untill they were terminated wholly with some VasiGothic unitarians surviving in 6th-7th century. And around same time of 6th-7th century, prophet Muhammad pbuh was sent for humanity to again spread monotheism in the world and he was chosen from another nation as said in this parable. Let's visit this parable again. 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Commentry : so they said to themselves, it is only predictable that when God judges them for killing his servants he will destroy them and will give this law (vineguard) to other people who will appreciate it and bear it's fruits. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Commentry: here Jesus again talks in metamorphic sense and tells them that what they are rejecting and considering just ordinary, they don't really know its worth, God will make it so worthy and marvellous that it will become the best of this world. ordinary stone becoming head of the whole corner. Most of the abrahimic prophets came from lineage of Issac pbuh and they almost none from Ishmael and they used to consider the lineage of Ishmael unworthy. And here it is allegory to this situation, that the ordinary stone from ismael lineage will become the head of corner and God will make it marvellous. 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Commentry : God won't kill them for killing his prophets but he will punish them even severe. He will take his kingdom and give it to another nation altogether. Who will really brings it's fruits and won't do that sort of transgression that u did with god's servants. 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Commentry : and this stone will be no ordinary stone. U will not b able to kill it like u did with other servants of God. ( Jews poisoned prophet Muhammad pbuh but he still survived and couldn't kill him). Rather this stone will conquer all of its enemies and if anybody tries to stop it, it will grind it to powder. 14 wars were fought against prophet Muhammad pbuh and despite low on cavalry, God made him triumph on all of them. 45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. Commentry : clearly when jews allegedly crucified Jesus and they learnt of this parable and it is then that they knew it was speaking about Jews and their crimes. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. - Commentry : it is then they knew that that ordinary stone is their greatest threat and this ordinary stone is going to become marvellous and powerful. They try to stop it only to find that it is already accepted as proohet by multitude and will fear it and they cant do anything about it. Jews were waiting for prophet muhammad pbuh in city of medina to do to him what they did to other prophets before him. But they became unsuccessful and rather were exiled then from medina for their betrayal (another topic) like was promised in above verse that whatsoever comes in its way will b grinded to pieces. And this stone is mentioned in Islam too, Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "My similitude in comparison with the other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the Seal of the Prophets."

Killlian: This parable is absolutely about works but not in the way you think. The "work" in this parable is all about dying out to one's old man, the man of flesh , and taking on more and more of the stature of Jesus The Living Christ. There are millions of saved people who never gain one ounce of spiritual maturity in twenty years. Other saved people diligent study and pray to gain spiritual maturity with the goal of their will and the will of God looking alike. So many people (far too many) seem to forget that the words of Jesus are SPIRIT. Every parable is a word picture about how to grow and become more anymore like The Christ. Remember Paul said "I die daily"? Die to what exactly? The flesh. Have a great day.

Perfect, the vineyard is like the kingdom of heaven. If you are working for God that's payment (joy) enough. The denarius is salvation and who is not joyful that everyone find salvation. Salvation is God's to give. Have no idea but I'd bet the full length version probably explains that the best workers are always picked first and the eleventh hour workers can never get work because of limited physical and mental abilities; limited strength, old, small, injuries etc.

@@drmujeebhamid3560 I believe Muhammad was righteous in the beginning but then he got corrupted with power. Why I say that? He said that's false prophet would have his aorta cut off. And what did he say when he was dying from being poisoned? He said that he felt as if .....get this.....his aorta was being cut off. Now I'm not saying he wasn't a prophet. I'm just saying he got corrupted and God (Allah) humbled him by allowing him to be poisoned and having him feel as if his aorta was being cut off. I'm not knocking Muslim belief. In fact we are brothers, our god is the same God. You say Allah, I say YHWH, others say Jehovah or Elohim. Jews don't accept Jesus as a prophet. Muslims do. Christians say he is the Messiah. Who is right? Muhammad died as he claimed a false prophet dies. But he did have the iron rod rule, which Jews believed the Messiah would do. Jesus had his own people crucify him and the Jewish view of the Messiah was to bring peace thru the rule of an iron force. Jesus preached peace but says his return will be that of the iron rod. Not going to argue this. Not here to defend or rebuke a religious belief. I'd rather unite what we have in common.

@@user-fb2jb3gz1d see man we believe Jesus is messiah but before he could fullfill his messianic things for Jews he was allegedly killed by them. But if they killed him before he could fulfill the prophecies like establishing 'God's kingdom', then he wasn't messiah at all. Then it meant God the one true God actually lied in Torah. The only solution for it was that it was important for him not to die in the first place. But how would we know he actually survived crucification bcz there was nobody worthy with whom God would speak with to convey his message. Since Unitarian christainity almost died around 6th-7th century with VasiGoths its last adherents, and trinatarian doctrine arising as the only one doctrine for christains. Allah sent a prophet from another nation ( Arabs over Syrians or ishmaels over Isaac) like clearly mentioned in this parable. "43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.". Then its prophet muhammad pbuh who from another nation, and who triumphed over others and was accepted by all its people as the prophet explained this problem when God revealed to him that Jesus pbuh wasn't crucified, God actually elevated him to the heavens and he is alive and will again descend in endtimes to fight against AntiChrist and Gog & Magog and will establish 'kingdom of God' for 40 years in Jerusalem. Further the above verse also clearly says that the kingdom of God is taken from Jews and given to this another nation among whom this conquering prophet will arise, who will be accepted by all. It all makes sense of u look at Islam with honest eyes and look at this parable also and try to correlate. Ps: the one who betrayed the Jesus (Judas iscariot) which Muslims believe was crucified instead of Jesus pbuh. What happened to him? Clearly he should have ceased to exist if he was Crucified insted of Jesus pbuh. But christains say he did exist after crucification and died after that and doesnt this invalidate the Islamic belief them. But here is the catch. There are 2 versions about his death, one say he does by suicide and another says he simply died when his intestines got swollen and bursted. And there have been constant arguments in the history one favouring the another. And strange it is that both of these ways of death are opposite to each other. And what is strange is that the one who betrayed Jesus pbuh and was known by all, there should be so much uncertainty in his death. Well here is the answer, he didn't die by any of these ways rather he was crucified in the place of Jesus and then when they couldn't find him after crucification they came with these 2 stories to fool the public. And they even spread myths on his death that the garden in which his intestines bursted (garden of blood), it smelled foul and nasty for many centuries after it so no one cares to go near to it. Another typical myths created to fool the people from finding the truth.

@@drmujeebhamid3560 good story about Jesus not dying and Judas in his place. I heard that one. Just shows how ignorant you are in christianity. But that's ok, that's not an insult. You're just not obviously not christian. Ok........Jesus did not preach that he was not to die. In fact, he told his disciples that he had to be given up, that he came to be the lamb of God. He is the ultimate sacrifice at Passover. He came teaching that the kingdom of God is within you. You are the temple of God. So when he said that he would rebuild the temple in 3 days, he meant that the body would be resurrected in 3 days because your body is the temple. He came teaching that to obtain eternal life is to believe in the one who the Father sent, which is him. He even teaches that even if you die, because you believe in him, you will live. When the Roman soldiers came to get him, he told Peter that he had to be turned over the them. Before that he prayed to the Father, to let it not happen......3 times. Jesus had to die. And it can't be Judas or anyone else. Because Jesus had the pierced wounds. You're telling me that Jesus pierced his own hands, feet and side? Another thing, the wounds are called stigmata. Only 2 people are said to have had it. One is a priest name Padre Pio. Even the Catholic Church was skeptical about his wounds. But the testimonies about him are amazing. If it was Judas who was crucified and not Jesus, then the stigmata honors Judas not Jesus. Your story holds no validation. I was an atheist who set out to prove Jesus was a fraud. Only to end up believing in Jesus because of St Jude. Every story about Jesus not dying on the cross has no validation that goes with his teaching and the events that have happened after that, all the way till today. I'm Roman Catholic because of the Eucharist. What happened to me with St Jude, happened to me when I read John 6. And the Catholic Church is the only one who believes John 6 as stated by Jesus. You got another theory on Jesus. The one you got is irrelevant. I'm open to new theories. So how about those verses about Muhammad validating he is a false prophet, by his aorta being cut off? I also have a great respect for the Blessed Mother, Mary. I have had a couple of experiences because of her. I like the Quran because it gives more of the story about her. Just thought I'd share that.

Q : This parable has nothing to do with generosity.

Would it be fair to say that this is similar to the ending of the Prodigal Son where the older son who always stayed with the father and worked was bitter that his brother (who wasted a portion of his inheritance on women, drink etc) was given a great feast for his return? I can see the bitterness in both of these and I too suffer on occassion from the extreme of what's fair is fair by our standards and not by God's wisdom.

@@almay9962 : Already explained that but perhaps you did not see it. The parable is about spiritual growth NOT economics or physical labor. Consider this as you meditate upon the parable. Can a complete paralytic person sitting in a wheel chair with an intact mind get saved? Can a complete paralytic in a wheel chair with an intact mind commit sin? The answer to both situations is of course yes. That same person can mature in Christ. The "labor" saved people are supposed to be engaged in is spiritual, NOT physical. A saved person is commanded by the word of God to die out to their fleshly, prideful, human nature and daily, diligently take on more and more of the stature of The Living Christ. Which is why Paul stated "I die daily". We told to crucify the flesh. Not literally but spiritually. It is all about maturing into the full stature of The Christ. In the Bible you will often see the word "perfect" used. It does NOT mean flawless or sinless. It means full grown, mature. Final note: Every Christian is a saved person. However, not every saved person is a Christian. Remember that the Bible refers to some people who are stuck on milk and have not matured to the point of eating meat. Have a nice day.

I don't disagree with your explanation, infact I agree with it completely, but I believe there are 2 meanings to this parable and that is the one you just explained, and this one, here you have people who live their lives exactly as God commands and they get to go to heaven when they die, then you have people who don't join the Church of Christ until the last minute such as the one who is dying on his or her death bed and converts at the last minute, gets baptized and receives the last rights and goes straight to heaven. That's a pretty lame exposition. I don't recall he even mentioned New Covenant Christians vis-a-vis the Mosaic-covenant Jews. Isn't it obvious Jesus is speaking of believers in Him (those coming in at the late hour) and the those Jews who felt entitled by their lengthy heritage as descendants of Jacob/Israel. It was just one more way to tell that arrogant brood of vipers their time of any particular favor was soon to be over. Of course, the favor they had received was always intended to be a blessing to all the nations with the coming of Messiah. To any who did put their trust and hope in Jesus, they were put on equal footing with the New Kingdom non-Jews as one people of God. An exclamation mark was put on the ending of the whole Old Covenant enterprise, with the complete destruction of the Mosaic system and the entire edifice built around it, in AD 70.
