@Paul D I have on both coasts and in between. LA puts most major U.S. cities to shame. LA just has a lot more of everything from museums (of every type and scope) to concerts to other cultural amenities, etc. As I type this LA metro now has the 3rd/4th most extensive public rail transport by mileage in the U.S. when LA Metro and Metrolink are added. For a city its size it truly is world class rivaling NYC in economic and cultural importance and leaving the rest behind (LA has the world's 3rd largest metro GDP after Tokyo and NYC).
@dannhymir96783 жыл бұрын
@Paul D Great exodus? There's a very insignificant net loss (its also adding people as others leave)--its not seeing the same loss of people however that you are seeing from San Francisco and NYC currently post-Covid19. LA is one of the major cities that's remained stable. Like SF and NYC, LA metro has the most expensive real estate in the U.S. (in fact on average more expensive than NYC metro), and that has more to do with people leaving (a victim of its own success unlike say Detroit or Chicago with falling real estate prices as people leave) to neighboring Nevada, Arizona, and to Texas where real estate is much much cheaper (and this has been happening for decades even under Republican leadership just because of how much more expensive it is in CA; its not a recent trend). However as mentioned, unlike SF and NYC its not losing as many people (and in fact is gaining more residents with a masters degree or higher). Having visited NYC (and Boston, DC, etc.) and having long had family in SF I can see why this is happening. However, the situation in LA is not the same (there are still bidding wars on houses and real estate prices are stable or even still rising unlike in these other cities).

Not trying to be obnoxious but you just stated that you lived in LA all your life. So does it mean that you are currently not alive or am i chatting with a ghost?

Biltmore Hotel, Bonaventure, and LA Central Library. The red elevator at the Bonaventure goes furthest to the top of the hotel. It's an all glass elevator. The following are at the outskirts of DTLA. Koreatown. Museum Square. LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). LACMA has that cool display of these light poles. It's a must to take pictures. When at the Union Station in DTLA, take the subway!

grateful for the tour....born and raised in L.A. but live 2000 miles away now. ur tour brought back many fond memories and a few surprises at the changes. btw, Cliftons was there when I was VERY YOUNG, so it's much older than 50yrs. I always loved going there with my mom when we went shopping downtown on the streetcar. again...thanks

Forget the jaded naysayers this was an awesome list! I lived in LA for years and spent time downtown riding bikes and going to clubs but hadn't even heard of half of this list. Dude that glass slide wtf? We often don't hear of some of the cool things to do in our own city so thanks for the insight :)
