I knew a chef at a resort who always said he never told guests his 'special' recipes no matter how much they begged, because it lost the 'magic' if the guests knew how easy some of them were. He used to make a to-die-for seafood sauce that was basically just tomato juice, cream and mayonnaise, but he would never tell the guests that. Much better to let them think he was a culinary genius 😀
