Wish Florida would go back to that one o’clock cutoff for all WMA’s. There were a lot more turkeys and talking turkeys when that time limit was in place.

In 53 years of gobbler hunting, almost every time I've laid down to call to a turkey it has ended up in a missed shot over their head. I stopped doing it about 30 years ago and opt to move to a more advantageous location where I can sit in front of a large tree with my knees under my chin. In fact I'm laying on my backbone and put a little rise in the land between us so that when he comes into view he is in shotgun range. You do a great job videoing your hunts Catman. Keep em coming. That was great audio with the bird you missed. He sounded close! We have a noon quitting time the first 2 weeks of the season here in PA. There's only one thing to do in the afternoon after turkey hunting, go trout fishing or take a nap before going back to try and roost one

I'm sure that you know it but I think a rest on something would address the two misses on videos that I just watched. I was thinking a miss on one of the videos when I witnessed your barrel floating around right before the shot. When you hold that long find some kinda' rest for that gun. I have relearned this a couple of times.

Well you don’t turkey hunt very much if you haven’t missed ! It’s been many years since ive missed but I’m sure it will happen again !! I missed two about 10-12 years ago. I was shooting an extra full turkey choke that shot to tight for me. I went back to my 30” full choke and haven’t missed one since. I shoot winchester XX turkey load #6. and I’ve pulled the trigger on a couple at 50 yds and rolled em. I think some of these chokes shoot to tight and a turkey moves his head to quick and much. I shoot a 14” circumference at 35 ! It has a lot more give in it than those tight chokes shooting TSS it has caused a lot of misses and cripples IMO ! Enjoyed being in the woods with you catman !! Always do ! I need to inbox you so we can set up a Mississippi And Louisiana hunt lined up next year. I have property in both states plus a lot of public too ! I limited out in Mississippi in 3 day and in Louisiana in two days !! My grandsons both killed theirs opening weekend in Mississippi and I took mine opening Saturday for adults for Louisiana They flipped and my 9 year oil won and he called his own bird in. His first. We have a good many birds in both states !! Would love to se something up with you ! If your interested let me know ! We’d have som fun and kill 3-4 birds !

Great instructions, "take your trash with you". We gather trash every time we go out to hunt, fish or just camp. Trashy people get us all banded from the property. Pack it in, pack it out !!!
@mohunter68 Жыл бұрын
Hey buddy I've been there and done that. That's why it's called turkey huntin and not turkey killing. If turkeys could smell we would never kill one. They have the best eyes out of every critter that haunts the hollers and ridges. Sadly, I've lost just about every open spot of woods that I have access to, my cousins, 3rd cousins, and others. Not sure if I will even buy a tag this year. Just like the picture of a frog trying to strangle a Blue Heron....Never give up without a fight.

Man I know the frustration of the 1 o’clock cutoff time. It’s ridiculous especially for folks like me who only can hunt on Saturday and in the evenings. And with very little private land, time is cut very short in a season for me. They should allow all day hunts in my opinion.

It may seem ridiculous but It’s not bc it gives the birds a break from abundant pressure from people that are “starving” for a gobbler and will pressure them into oblivion thinking they are trying hard. It allows the turkeys time to breed uninterrupted and gives them a break before hundreds of ppl try to kill them the next morning. It seems ridiculous but it’s the best for the Turkey population. Besides morning to noon hunts are way better.
@scottvancuren2355 Жыл бұрын
@@-B_G- it also allows hens time to feed as it warms for their nests without potentially being inadvertently shot.

@@dublelung1... I'm 70 yrs old. Been hunting awhile. Catman has missed quite a few turkeys, it seems like. It seemed like on this particular bird, that he should have let it come in a little closer. With cameras, it's hard to tell sometimes, the distance of the target, and the angle.
