What I love about Darla is that her character design is drawn as what a cute protagonist normally would be (large head and eyes, rounded features, etc.), but it's from her exaggerated facial expressions that she can be identified as a villainous character.

My favorite thing about this movie are the little quirks of the animation, like how that added a little bit of Darla making herself dizzy at 0:52. They didn't have to, but things like that really add to the movie's flow and personality.

It's not child obesity it's called stylized Her arms are the same. It's ment to be reminicent of that eras pin-up style, like betty boop she had thick thighs & a flat chest Also if you look at the old snow white film she was a lil plump while not being busty or hippy and she had little petite hands and feet which were popular at the time. There's a difference between being obese and being healthy. If that dally dimple was older that would have been considered hot for child-bearing reasons.

Such a small animation detail that makes her so effective... The animators space her pupils and retinas out just a bit more, so that they're more in the center of her corneas rather than focused inward. It gives her a continuous "walleyed" look of a Stepford Smiler. Really helps ram in the psychotic villain vibe.

Darla could just be using her image to squeeze all she can from Hollywood. in a sense, she gets to be in charge and everyone looks up to her in a way that would never happen in the real world. of course, i'm guessing she's just really spoiled and uses her influence to oust competition.
