Cats Throwing A Party While The Owners Are Out !! (Caught on Security Camera)

A few weeks ago, we encountered a cat invasion :) Our cats were home alone and they actually threw a party while we were out!! It's like our cats sent a word to all the cats in the neighbourhood and they each paid a visit to the party! But of course they didn't know they were being watched because our security camera recorded every second of this Party / Invasion !!
Our screened porch's door had been left open and the cats realized this mistake. There were more than a dozen hungry intruders that day :)
And if you are wondering how we learnt about this invasion; my dad called me that night and told me the amount of the cat food in the container decreased considerably and asked me to check the security camera footage to see who left the door open and how long it stayed open. So that's how we came to know about this.

About Our Channel:
This channel is about the daily lives and adventures of my two indoor cats Santi & Indy and our 7 outdoor cats and my dog Walter.
Santi (8) and Indy (1) live with me in my house and Walter (7) lives in my garden.

jraoul711 Animals are often much more clever than we realize. Many of them are quick learners and some animals have memories comparable to humans'. Even animals we typically don't think of as smart are actually quite intelligent. Crows are known to drop walnuts into the street and wait for the shell to get crushed by a passing car. Egyptian Vultures drop rocks onto Ostrich eggs to break them open. A sheep will find a gap in a fence quickly if you stand beside the fence with a bucket.

It's funny how many in the comments are saying they're impressed by a cat's ability to open a door. The door wasn't even latched. The cat literally just had to push the door open. Even then, most cats know how to open a door--they watch us do it all the time--but are simply too short to reach, or doing so would be too awkward (like with this screen door, where the cat would have to stretch out at an angle to grab onto the handle).

Exactly. My cat has even learned to open our screen door by climb up the metal mesh and then hanging on the door handle. If she was a bit taller she probably could open our indoor doors as well. Right now she's only able to wiggle the door handles

Oh, cats know how to open doors when they have the proper motivation! I have an orange cat named President Rufus. He used to open a door he's not supposed to by using a leverage handle that you pull straight down on. Too easy! Figured it out a week we got him. So we had to replace the leverage handle with a standard door knob you turn counter-clockwise. Welp, President Rufus has literally stood up and leaned on the door handle, grabbing it, slowly trying to turn it till it opens. It took him a few days to figure that one out, but he got it. Unbelievable.

A cat I owned until his recent passing figured out that trick too....and he started with a round door handle. He watched me turn them for a couple of weeks until one day, he got the idea of what he had to do! I remember watching him in action more than one time......He'd stand up on his hind legs, put his front paws on opposite sides of the knob and turn it until it clicked! Then, depending on what side of the door he was on, he'd either stick his paw under the door and pull it open or he'd stand up and put his full weight on the door to push it open. Then, he'd walk through that open door like the boss he was!
