Eddy Arnold had 57 top ten singles. 19 were number one. He sold 85 million records, 147 songs on the Billboard Country charts. In 1948 he had 5 successful songs on the charts at the same time. He was only second to George Jones in total record sales. Legend is kind of an understatement when it comes to Eddy Arnold. He had the Midas touch for many years.

"...He had the Midas touch for many years. " ...and he earned it!! He recognized a beautiful new talent in front of him and he helped her along. He was my grandfather's favorite singer. My dad got him a front row seat at a show in Reno, Nevada back in about 1975 or so, and Eddie Arnold stepped down off the stage to talk with my grandpa (he was about 85 then) and shook his hand. It was something that wasn't ever forgotten. Good Memories...

Yes sir Eddie Arnold Johnny Cash Hank & Hank Jr. Waylon Jennings Willy Nelson George Jones. Tammy Wynet Patsy Cline Loretta Lynn Dolly Parton were all Ledgons. LeAnn Rimes and Miley Cyrus Gretchen Wilson Reba McEntire and a few other ladies will also be in the Ledgondairy status circle here in just a few more years. I there are people out there that do not care much for Miley and I was one of them myself up until I heard her singing a cover for baby I'm in the mood for you.
@deanrobertson9118

When I heard Miley singing that song I had to sit up and listen to her sing. Even the people that doesn't care much about her but iffin they really listen to her sing some of the covers that she sings. Now if they are truly honest about it will have to admit that Miley Cyrus can sing and make any song sound down right amazing. She does an awesome job on singing the Pink Floys songs Comfortably numb and Wish you were here and then she does amazing singing AC/DCs Dirty Deeds. Not to mention her singing Blondies Heart of Glass and Joan Jetts I Love Rock And Roll and I Hate Myself For Loving You. Miley has one of them one in a million voices. Because that beautiful young lady can sing ANYTHING weather it be Counry Rock Pop or anything else that she may want to try. Miley has more raw talent than can be spoken of. I am now a great fan of hers. I would love to hear her team up with and sing the amazing Elton John and Tammy Wynet song. What a woman needs. As I said Miley Cyrus can sing ANYTHING that she sets her mind to sing. The NFL should absolutely sign Miley Cyrus up for a Superbowl halftime show.

I have a feeling that is quite unlikely. With the emergence of "bro country" and rappers doing "Country" albums, the genre is at its absolute lowest point in history. Nashville is pumping out the same bro country song over and over, which isn't even country. It's Pop & Hip Hop beats with pedal steels, acoustic guitars providing instrumentation that's normally associated with Country. And they make sure the lyrics cover all the most cliché narrative themes associated with Country Western music. Such as; feeling lonesome, feeling heartbroken, feeling hungover, or feeling both lonesome & heartbroken as your head throbs from the night before and a slow moving freight train blows its whistle in the distance. Tbh most of those topics are associated with classic Country from the 50s-70s, so most new singers aren't even familiar with the classic songs of the genre. These new Bro "Country" artists are obsessed with songs about driving on dirt roads, drinking cheap beer, and drinking cheap beer while you drive down a dirt road. Because they think that's all Blue Collar people with their free time. They wouldn't know because theyre all nepo babies who were born rich. But their audience should be offended. Nashville clearly thinks it's consumers are stupid. The only thing Country about Bro Country is the overdubbed pedal steels, rustic sounding instrumentation, and cliche lyrics. So it's literally only Country at the very surface level. And mostly it just stinks to listen to it. Sometimes you'll hear a new artist with a good voice, but I want to hear them sing country. Not pop or hip hop. There will certainly be a pushback against the current awful wave of mainstream country music. And return to traditional styles and sounds. With singers who have great voices back by bands who can actually play instruments. And no synthesizers, drum machines, Hip Hop beats, or four-on-the-floor Pop / EDM beats. I heard someone say once "if you can't two step to it then it ain't country" and I think that's a fair assessment. It's not 100% true in every case but it's a decent guage. It's supposed to sound like Country, not Hip Hop. If I wanted to listen Hip hop I'd put on some Nas or MF DOOM. Post Malone stinks as a rapper and he stinks even more ass a country singer. Just stick to what got u famous in the first place, you ain't talented enough to be hopping around genres like that, buddy. I mean the can't even rap let alone sing. He STINKS. Same goes for Beyonce and her lame new "country" album. Wearing a cowboy hat and having a pedal steel in your song don't equal Country.

@@aldapellegrino6712 Thank you, Alda. My dad, who passed away last year, was a former English teacher, prolific writer, and grammar/vocabulary stickler, so it's rather hard-wired with me. Heck, I am the only person I know that still begins email paragraphs with the first word spaced to the right, lol. I, too, mourn the loss of proper writing skills. Much like yourself, I assume, I actually gain a sense of satisfaction (and dare I say, surprise) when I discover decently written and expressed ideas in a comments section such as this. Sad state of affairs, indeed. At any rate, have a great day. I'm glad you got to discover and enjoy the music of this era. I was a 23 year old working in a tire shop when I first heard this song. I was mesmerized, and immediately recognized that I was listening to something quite special.

I saw her at the Tivoli Theater too. She was 14, Blue was riding high on the charts and One Way Ticket had just been released. After hearing Blue on the radio and watching the video, I had to go and see if she was for real. Bill Monroe had just passed away and she sang Blue Moon Of Kentucky. She sang the first verse in his style, then her band kicked and she sang the second verse like Elvis. But the crowd didn't seem to understand what she was doing. Then a little later, she sang I Will Always Love You - but not like Dolly. She sang it like Whitney Houston and that's when I knew she was the real deal. I bought an 8 X 10 photo in the lobby and had the Blue CD with me. After the show ended, she had to do interviews with a couple of radio stations. But we're told that if we wanted to meet her, just to hang around, because after she finished with the radio interviews she'd come back and meet with anybody who wanted to wait. It took close to 30 minutes for her to finish. But when she did, she met with everybody who waited around, was as nice and as friendly as she could be and signed autographs for all of us. Yes, I still have mine.

How eerie and beautiful their voices are. This is a song unlike any other. I had forgotten what sensational high notes the young LeAnn could hit. ....Can she still hit them? They somehow manage, with their yodeling, to recreate the joy and solitude of cowboys in an almost infinite mountain wilderness. This yodeling has traveled very far from the Alps to the Rockies or Sierras.

My mother could yodel up a storm, and sang all the country yodeling songs, but this was her favorite. The musician in me is laughing that, given his age here, he has consented to sing it *one-half step* lower than on the record. The man is legendary! I couldn't touch that with a ten foot yodel. I do think my mom could have given LeAnn a run for her money (but I may be a little biased). ;-)

I first saw Ms Rimes in 95 singing on a flat bed trailer at the watermellon fest in Arcadia Fl. I believe she was 13 or 14. Knew for sure she was going to make it big. Thanks Leann for all the great music.

I was 11 when Eddy recorded that song and I was big on the Westerns back then. I got to work horses and work cattle , take pack trips and this song just seemed to epitomize all that. I’ve love LeAnne ever since she came out with Crazy by Patsy Cline and the ONLY person I ever heard do it justice. She has a wonderful voice.

Nice!!! I remember this as a kid sleeping around the campfire during the trail drive going into Houston for the rodeo. Getting up before the crack of dawn and watching cookie make breakfast on a three foot diameter cast iron pan over the fire was amazing!!

WoW did that bring on the Tears 😭😂 Other than the Memories of First Hearing it on 8-Track tape or Lpr back in about 1969 or 70. Good to See Eddy Still Had that Bueatiful Voice & His Harmonic Range. May God Bless Them Both.

Grew up listening to Eddie Arnold music playing on Dad's phonograph. Eddie was his favorite singer and my Dad often sang along to my Mom's delight. This was absolutely beautiful and a nice surprise to stumble across on YT. Thanks for posting and sharing.
