The pliers shown beginning in minute 16 were commonly in the trade (Typewriter Repair) known as 9-prong pliers. They were for bending various links or link stock (music wire). The illustration of the Cat tells me it was made for Ames Supply Company (US), a typewriter parts, supplies, and platen, feed roll, and power roller recovering company. The "Made in Germany" most likely indicates it was made by Dreusicke a German company which while in a similar business to Ames also manufactured specialty tools for the typewriter and office machine service trade. A simple 3 jaw set were made by I believe Utica Tool, and appeared somewhat similar to diagonal cutting pliers.

Can't thank enough to you and to the other guy that reply, for this information i really mean it ! For many years i tried to find the original purpose that this pliers have, i use them for banding wire of different gauge in semi round or round shapes for arts and crafts. I even banded thin sheets of lamellar springs, i love this tool especially because I have it from my grandfather that passed away. I found it in a rusty tool box in his shed after he passed when I was young, it had the spring broken and it was very pitted so i couldn't read the brand. I restore it but i never found another one like it or anything on the internet, till i finally stumbled upon this video and your reply. I'm from Europe and i always suspected that my pliers are from England or Germany, but i wasn't sure till now. And i guess they are from Germany after all, it wouldn't surprise me because they are very nicely build and the still is very strong.

The ones at 18 minutes aren't pliers they are cast cutters. They use them to remove peoples casts. The bottom jaw is smooth to glide between the skin and cast. They Isolate the cutting surface with that loop the blade goes through to get a straight line o=without transferring to much motion to the person.

Great video, always fun to learn about tools. The siamese cat marked pliers are called 9 pin pliers for adjusting the type bars on old manual typewriters so you can precisely bend or stretch the bar for perfect alignment of the of the type head hitting the paper. It took a lot of patience and skill and still used by some old timers today. Pretty much the same thing you use them for.

At 3:45 are actually Farrier Clenchers by Nordic Forge. Used to bend the sharp end of the nail over after nailing a shoe to a horse's hoof. Often this is also rasped or filed down. It's all to make sure the horse shoe nail is smooth and won't cause injury. * I prefer to keep my horses barefoot. Natural is healthier. :)

Your part strait & part curved jaw pliers (orange long handles)are a farrier's (horse shoer) nail crimper. You could watch any horse shoe video to see in action. That long stainless set is a cast"adjuster" to loosen or tweek the edges of plaster cast a (mostly replaced by fiberglass now-a-days). But great guess. Love your reviews!

The "nut busting pliers" as you referred to them are actually car battery pliers. I have 5-6 different sets of them. All with slightly different design of gripping surface. The ones I use the most are probably my cal-van ones. They are like yours but the tips of the pliers are milled down almost pointed. Sorta like a snub needle nose.

Those pliers with the red handles at 12:40 are used to score and snap ceramic tile. I know Amazon shows the Chinese made ones do glass, but these were originally for ceramic tile.

Nordic Forge is for shoeing horses. You round the cut off nail flat onto the outer wall of the hoof.

The Japanese nut pliers are sold as battery nut pliers . The squeeze to open pliers are C-ring pliers , used for external snap rings without the holes for normal snap ring pliers . The end of the ring usually have a backwards slant so the point sticks into the plier . The cut out on one side is to help get to the ring when something is in the way .

The Sargents are actually a copy of Bernards (or more specifically, Bernard patent parallel pliers). They came both with and without the auxiliary wire cutters. The main function being the parallel jaw motion. I have both a pair of Sargents as well as Bernards

Catus i think you need to clean up the beaver tooth pliers. Since you use them often removing that paint then wire brushing on your bench grinder then sanding / polishing them will make them look like new. Scoutcrafter is a good channel for learning how to make your old tools look like new.

Laser etching 🤣 they didn’t laser etch old tools, they use electro-etching. They make a mask and with a salt water electric bath, they etch the metal

I have a pair of Bernard no. 102 pliers like the first 2 but have found no info on what they are for. The reverse opening ones are for external retaining rings like in automatic transmissions. I saw a pair of the siamese cat marked pliers on the tray before they removed my wisdom teeth a few months ago (I think) but gladly don't know what they do.

Parallel pliers are cool. Used a lot for wire fencing here in New Zealand: I have both Sargent (USA) & Maun (England) pairs. These both have a groove down the middle of the lower jaw, which allows you to thread fencing wire through the jaws when pulling.
