That drill is from a time when Porter Cable still made power tools worth purchasing. Keyless chucks, for the most part, are junk, IMHO, so my 3/8 & 1/2 corded drills are of the keyed type: one Makita and a USA made Milwaukee unit both will probably out last me....

Not all keyless chucks are created equal. We had a client throw on a German made precision keyless chuck onto one of his dewalts and yea that thing is amazing. It’s so hard to make it slip. I’m planning on replacing all the chucks on my cordless drills with them

Great drill should last a Long time. Really like the cord very easy to replace and the wire not smashed in to everything lot's and lots of room in the handle. Thanks for showing the drill to bad they don't make it anymore.

I never used a Porter Cable tools. Tho they had a retail Store in West Fort Lauderdale. I dont remember anybody bragging about what they could do. But the Business, everytime i would stop in with my Father in law to go look at tools their in the 2000's. ...i just kept to my 7 and a 1/4 Worm drive and my 3/4 inch hammer drill. ....in the 90's There was no need for me to buy anything bigger or smaller then what i had. ...im sure there has to be more interior or house framing residential Carpenter's out there that would know alot more then me. On these small drills. I know they didn't use Porter Cable tools on American Airlines Arena, The Portofino Tower on the Edge of South beach Miami. Or The Dolphin Training Facility in Southwest Fort Lauderdale. Or the Panther Arena in West Fort Lauderdale. ...the shell Contractor used in there Gang boxes were 8 and a 1/4 Skill 77, Worm drives and 3/4 to 1 inch non hammer Milwaukee drills. So they could Augur through 7and 5/8 wide forms or 11and 5/8's forms to put in Spaghetti wire in, or no cone Snap ties. In to the form to keep it from blow out. At the hight pressures of dropping Mud at 12 to 14 foot from the top of column. The state would not let us drop Concrete at any more higher then 8 foot from a Concrete pump. But we could pour Concrete up to 14 foot on any given day without a complete wash out. From the rain. Trust me folks it aint no fun washing away a bad load of Concrete and scrubbing rebar in the rain and dumping 10 yards of concrete off a block concrete wall and down the cells from Foundation up to 14 foot. With concrete filled in them.and getting the rebar out of the walls that were set evey 4 foot apart at what ever length 10 yards got you. The Mud went bad in the Mud truck cause to much rain fell with in an hour and a half. That ruined the concrete consistency test. So i dont know nothing about Porter Cable. See ya all tomorrow. 🇺🇸

@@gypsydildopunks7083 , why you say that. ...I was a step child to a 35 year Forman Form Carpenter He was from N.Y. City and saw the writing on the wall and got out. Landed a gig doing Hi Rise decking. ...His Son did it and Finished and moved along to there Utopia. I did it for many years. I found the company that had those projects. I was invited to run a crew on the Panther Arena. And i turned it down. I was offered the American Airlines Arena. After the construction caught of fire and it all had to be torn down to existing concrete and build up again. Yep thos jobs. It wasnt about what you know its who you impress in front of the right people. I stayed with family to do tie beam form work. Building up C.V.S. , book Stand alone book stores. So i can mold and bend Concrete mud. I quit that job when i got to the top of that game and learned what top pay was. I was gone.

is single reduction with big gears better than double gear reduction? apart from friction and space saving, any advantage to any of them?

It's kind of sad that in Mexico we don't produced them anymore, we actually get them little bit cheaper than in the USA just because we actually did make them, even Dremel, we actually in the 2000 did a lot of production here but it's a big part gone, and yes, I prefer Mexican made units than a china made tool

2:13.. that's not a commonly used tool... this is made for 3/8 shank drill bits... I've honestly never seen that drill bit in my life....

Its dull as all hell too. That wood could be tough but it only cuts when he bears down on it.
