Really enjoying this "old tools reviews" series. Learning lots, thanks very much. Keep'm coming. (I have a couple of TRW hand tools from the 60s; hope you can find some of those to review in the future.) Happy New Year bud!!

I'm a fan of 1/4" spiner handles mainly for lawnmower maintenance. Great review Catus

I have one almost exactly like that, from Sears. Only difference I can see is that the handle on mine was a clear green plastic. It was part of a metric socket set.

Those green handles are pretty cool!

p.o.s the only nut driver handles that makes sense is one that has the metal shaft extended through the handle and allow you to attach a ratchet at the end

I wish I didn't have to order one with a longer shank. I was never happy with them shorter ones.

Koken makes a really nice long shank unit. They come with or without wobble feature. They even come in 3/8 drive as well.

Koken tools are some of my all time favorites. IMHO I cannot think of any tool company that makes higher quality 1/4 and 3/8” drive tools.

Koken is a great brand!

It looks in the video like the Ace Professional has a magnet rather than detents in the female drive end.

Since you are very knowledgeable in tools, any idea how to stop the acetate handles from the odor it produces with age. Some of my handles even get a white film that is difficult to remove. Just looking for ideas. Thanks

I think I’ve heard that a vigorous rub down with denatured alcohol can help. I may be wrong on the alcohol, so you may want to do some google searching on that.

There are plenty of ways to remove the buildup, but there has been no effective method for eliminating the smell.

soak in ammonia for half a day and wipe down. I recently cleaned up a bunch of my old craftsman acetate handle screwdrivers.

I don’t think either the newer Ace one or the Koken one are actually through-shank tools. The shanks don’t attach to the female receiver on the tops and therefore don’t add any strength. Those receiver tops are only being held in place by the plastic of the handles, no differently than with a handle where the shank just goes into the plastic a little bit.

I think Ace did not seem to care about a consistent style or color for their acetate hand tools. I like acetate handles, finding them naturally comfortable and grippy overall, and the colors when new are the best. Of course, as the years roll on they all look terrible due to wear, how easily they dent, and the chemical breakdown they will inevitably suffer from. I just ordered some of the last yellow Vaco’s (Klein owned) and will pursue a few of the red-handle Vaco split screw-holders too.

I agree with your assessment of acetate handles.

Lil' buddy. If you let people send obscure tools to you, maybe your channel would grow a lil' more. Just a thought.

@CatusMaximus Why not.

This is not even a spinner handl, it's just a basic driver handle which in my opinion is a tool that should never exist.

They come in handy? That hasn't happened ever. Maybe once, but likely not

@gypsydildopunks7083 Driver handles are a useless waste of space and very very poor excuse for a tool. Why would I want a stupid driver handle when I could be using a spinner handle that can attach to my ratchet and act as a finger turning extension ? You can attach a sliding T and quickly spin a fastener in before torquing it down, with a palm ratchet and bit adapter or driver sockets you can have an improvised ratcheting screwdriver. All that plus you can use it as a nut driver if need be. A spinner handle is one of the greatest most underrated tools there is and it adds countless amounts of versatility to a 1/4 socket set, a basic driver handle does not and I can't stand them. A stupid driver handle is like the oatmeal cookie of the tool world, it looks like a chocolate chip cookie ( spinner handle ) only to disappoint when you get close and see that it's not.
