I had Dogz 1 on release, got this from the PC section in Debenhams of all places. Something I kinda liked was that it included a "pet adoption" system whereby you could make an authorised copy to and let your friends try it out too. Shades of the old shareware system and also reinforcing your observation of "procrastination tool for adults" if you imagine this being copied through an office

I had Petz 3 and 5. For years I had a Manx named Mel in the game. He had jeans and a little cowboy hat. I transferred him from 3 to 5 so it was a good many years. When I stopped being able to play the game, I really missed him. I use to use my laptop for notes in college and I'd have my catz playing in a small screen in the corner. Helped me concentrate because they were a distraction.

I'd like to see what you think of the Creatures series. It's the same sort of idea as the Petz games but was designed more scientifically, so the creatures have brain lobes and internal organs, require oxygen to breathe, can be saved from dying of poison if you inject them with the right chemical, etc.

i always get my animals from rescue, my current dog max seems to have been a ex hunting dog since he has no tail and when we got him didn't know how to live in a house, he soon learned a bed or a sofa is a nice place to lay though! So many people go straight to breeders for puppies yet thousands of dogs are in rescue centers wanting a home

I installed Dogz on my work PC back in around 95. You know, as I was working next to a trading floor in the big schity. (back when IT depts didnt have any tools to stop you doing that type of shit). Trained my dog to wipe its arse on the floor on command (hilarious sound and the dog looking at the screen with a kind of guilty/embarrased look). then whenever I left the room my workmate would attack it with the water spray so i'd come back to find the dog a gibbering wreck

I love cats but never thought of them as pets. They are flatmates who demand you feed them and give them attention but ONLY when they ask for it. Which is usually right when you're in the middle of something like playing a game, working, eating, sleeping etc.
