Timing? Joe, how long do you figure it is at about 2.5 MPH that your lures get into fish marked on a graph from a transom transponder? Seems to me you don't start jerking the line until about then. Let's say you've got four colors out, that would be 40 yards plus a ten yard leader. So fifty feet.
@JoeShowFishing3 жыл бұрын
Well I go 2mph. It takes a little bit of time but if you're just starting out, I would start stripping right away so you don't miss the bite. Knowing the timing of it comes through practice and through catching fish and keeping mental notes on the timing of when they bit

When I spool up the leadcore on the reel, do you use the entire spool of 10 colors? I figure every color is about 5' deep, so maybe 6 colors?
@JoeShowFishing3 жыл бұрын
First, you need a reel that can hold enough leadcore. I look for a 600 size reel that can hold a capacity of 20lbs mono 300 yards. I always spool on the most I can which is 12-14 colors. There are going to be times when stripers go deeper and you will end up having to put out over 10 colors.

JoeShowFishing Thank you! Exactly what I wanted to know!

Hey Joe do you use backing on your reel then lead core or just the lead core with a leader?
@JoeShowFishing3 жыл бұрын
I use about 20 yards of braid backing!

can u recommend a good pole?? the line always freys and breaks off when im stripping
@JoeShowFishing3 жыл бұрын
Shimano Curado Medium Heavy. You just want to make sure you use a rod that has a some type of insert so its not exposed to metal. Also breakoffs and freys happen a lot and happened a lot for me at first too. It just takes a lot of practice to learn to preserve the line. Try stripping with the rod pointed from where the line is coming from. That would put the least amount of pressure on the line against the guides.
