This. People are too damn influenced by movies, religion and fiction in which we're fed the lie that you should take the high road and turn the other cheek. While that might seem noble and honorable all it does it give the cheater full control of the narrative. It will let them spin the narrative to their favor and before you know it most of your common friends and sometimes even your family will think you are the bad guy. At that point it's already too late to tell them what really happened, because: 1) Human psychology works in such a way that most people will believe the first thing they "learn" and few people are because of pride and ego willing to change their minds once they have picked a side, committed to a side, in a conflict. 2) Keeping quiet doesn't make you appear honorable and noble, it makes you look guilty, like you're ashamed of what you did. 3) If you only start telling your side of the story after everyone has already turned on you it will look like you're just trying to lie your way out of trouble.
