We all make mistakes and misjudge things on occasion but it's pretty tough to accidentally overtake on a blind bend with a solid white line. Very surprised some of these got away with awareness courses when they were far more dangerous than some speeding offenses that would get you an immediate 3 points (talking about 60 on a rural 50 road not doing 70 past a school in town!)

In my village, lots of people get caught doing 42mph in a 30mp zone - the problem is that only about 10% of drivers do anything like 30mph because it feels so inappropriate for the road. Seeing some of the really dangerous driving in these clips, I agree with other posters that there should be more serious penalties.

There is some seriously dangerous and reckless driving here and the punishment is a driving course? Seriously? I drove really slowly through a rural village with a 30 mph limit. As I approached the 50 mph sign, just metres from it, I foolishly started to increase speed and set off a camera which clocked me doing 36 mph. I got £100 fine and 3 points on my licence. And some of these characters are driving like that and getting LESS than me. I was doing 36 on a quiet road and was the only person on the road and get a bigger punishment than somebody literally speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and forcing somebody else off the road.

In my case the criteria was a serious collision, requiring the attendance of the emergency services, and a week long stay in hospital. I suffered collapsed lungs and a broken leg - I couldn't physically drive for four months. The guilty party attended the magistrates court, got fined £220.00, with costs and the victim surcharge, was given a twelve month disqualification, and ordered to re-take the driving test (which was an hour long). It took them another four months before they could get the test slot. All told, the perpetrator (me) was off the road for twenty months, and faced seriously increased insurance costs.

It is a common scam in Lincoln. The traffic system in Lincoln is a joke. Drivers unfamiliar can often find themselves in the wrong lane and even if they move over as soon as they realise their mistake, they get fined.
