I have no idea how someone who is a mother could do that to their own children and future grandchildren. It’s sickening. But maybe it was a thing the mother in-law was forced to be raised- but unfortunately I think that just lead them to be a horrible human being. The mother in law needs mental help- but the way she has been behaving I don’t think anyone would wanna be around her even IF she got help. Seriously- SHES NUTS!! She’s lucky that OP’s wife didn’t go into early labor or had a complication due to stress! That is so heartbreaking…I hope OP’s wife is gonna be okay…I can’t imagine what it was like for her…

Whenever I hear stories like this and the FiL goes "You need to apologize to my wife" I feel like the response should be "In the same way you're defending your wife, I'm defending mine." And if they play "Well she's my daughter" go with "And you've been a shitty father for not protecting her from your wife's horrible actions." That said, does seem like FiL knew what was going on was messed up but wanted to keep his peace.

I'm glad that he recognizes that there is an extensive background for why his wife did what she did, BUT (even though the wife was pregnant), this was still a huge invasion of privacy that very easily could have cost him his job - for instance: my work literally has my work computer's system setup to flag if any unapproved external device is plugged into it due to the confidentiality of the files that I work with! While I don't think leaving her would have been the right choice, I do think that counseling should be something to consider in the near future. Just reached the end of the video, where apparently she did start seeing a mental health professional. Glad to hear that they're taking it all seriously.

From someone who has been in a similar position: People who were abused by their parents will always default to being victims of their parents unless they process the trauma and learn to respond. The wife needs to go to therapy not only for her current situation, but to address her trauma at a bigger scale. As things are now, if she keeps carrying the emotional weight of her mother's continuing abuse, she might just go back to hearing her mother out once MIL figures out how to bypass the restraining order.

People who were raised to normalize abuse are often easily abused again, even after realizing they were being abused. That kind of upbringing skews your perception of what is acceptable, and it also makes abusive behavior "comforting", in a way. It's why children who were abused will often wind up with abusive romantic partners later on in life.

Why is it always a mother bruh? I listened to several other stories that involved a narcissistic mother. I literally watched two last night one of them was a mom purposefully trying to cause tension in her son's marriage to make them divorce. She even guilted him by blaming him for his father's death because of a failed kidney transplant. She also went as far as to attempt no more live to guilt him even more. I know there are narcissistic fathers as well, but from what I've seen they're usually partnered with a narcissistic woman. I just don't understand how a mother, the one who births their children, could be so cruel and evil to the child they're supposed to unconditionally love. I will say that on the bright side it just motivates me to make sure that me and my girl are the best parents we can be when we have children.
@conormccue2871
@conormccue2871 7 ай бұрын
Simple. Everything you've ever heard about mothers is a modern lie. You want to know what people really thought of the reality of mothers? Read anything written by any great figure of history from 500BC to 1900AD. Look at how many societies, for how long, *did not allow mothers to have a hand in raising sons.* Your mother has no unconditional love for you. She's merely possessive because of how much trouble you were to carry. Most of us are only pets in our mothers' eyes and there's no one a mother is more likely to lie to than her own children, doubly so her male children.

Second thing, OP's MIL sounds like a real piece of work. This woman preys upon her own daughter's insecurities and concerns and tries to make her starve herself while she's pregnant!? And she wants to be around the grand kid as well!? What, so she can belittle that one and make them feel horrible!? No, this woman is toxic, terrible, and cruel.
