That's cool that it's opened up. Last summer the rock where blocking the entrance and water was flowing out. I'll have to go back now with my son to explore maybe with the grotto group. Go further downstream and there is another cave opening. You have to climb up to the ledge though. A small cave

Great video! I love spelunking too, so thanks for these vids, Chigg! There are two caves on one of my farms. One is amazing with great formations in it, but it's also got a lake in it, for much of the year. Got some nice photos inside. I've only gone back into it about 60 feet, thanks to the thick, gooey mud and the noises I kept hearing from around the corner. Not to mention the tracks in the mud. The ceiling is around 15 feet. There is a nylon rope leading from the entrance, through the mud/water, to the back of the chamber and around that corner. Walking back out, I found a coyote skull in the mud, so I took it home and rinsed the brain out. Hiking back to my truck, I was wondering, "What eats coyotes, lives in a cave, and is probably at the end of that leash?" ;)MOAR CAVES!!!

That looks really fun! Most of the caves near me are really big lava tubes so no tight spaces, however at one cave I did find a smaller opening to a whole new tunnel. I didn't have time to explore it but I will probably go back to it later to take a look.

More caving, Beau! I live in an area that has many, many caves, some of which go completely under the Mississippi and connect into Illinois. As far as I know noone has accomplished that yet, but they know they are connected because of water level records that are being recorded. Technically, all the caves in this area are connected, much like the ones in the Mammoth Cave systems.

I worked in a coal mine when I was younger. The older drifts had soda straws that were 6” to 8” long. They formed in less than 80 years, but there was forced ventilation to prevent methane and black damp (CO2) from building up.
